Driving in Wind
 

Does anybody else feel like they get blown around in the wind. I have a gen 2 release series and i usually have to steer a lil to the left or right to compensate for wind. How does everyone else drive?

Try driving an old VW bus in a crosswind and then compare notes :)! Sure, the side profile of the xB2 makes it more sensitive to crosswinds than non-boxy passenger cars (which is most), but that's nothing compared to the more serious boxes on the road :)!

The shape of a box is so aerodynamic ^.^

Mod of the day:

1. Purchase a bucket of chicken from KFC/Popeyes/or the generic equivalent.
2. After consuming, take grease and rub it along side your doors, the top of the window frame, the roofline connecting the A, B, and C pillars, and finally along your rocker panels.

The added grease will diffuse the wind and allow it to roll over the car, which contributes to an amazing reduction in crosswinds air flow! I tried it myself, and it works wonders!

no real trick to it, just both hands on the wheel and keep alert. even my tC and BMW 3 series get a little wind blown. My old Ford explorer was pretty much a sail too. also keep an eye out for stuff getting blown into the road.

How am I supposed to keep both hands on the wheel when I'm eating chicken with one hand and using the other hand to text while driving???


I used to roll around with the chicken grease mod to cut down on air flow, but then I noticed a large increase in the attraction of ravenous fat guys to the car. Subsequently, I had to wipe it all away.

in my old 2006 xb, i would drive the 59th street bridge over to manhattan and the cross winds were so bad, i would literally have to slow down from 55mph to maybe 30mph to have full control of the car.... but that car is still the best car i've ever owned - MUCH BETTER than my current $70k mercedes =|

when this thing's lease is up (jan 2013), im getting another box. i dont even have to rethink that decision.

Lowering my XB on Raceland Coilovers help so much with this....Now crusing at 65 feels nice.

Seriously...lowering the XB will help along with both hand on the steering wheel...that's about it.

Can only evade nature but for so long.

putting the Ksports on and lowering the xb quite a bit helped with crosswinds.

Idk but I feel more planted in my xB than I did in my old CRX and it was lower to the ground, but was lite as hell. Damn near scary next to a semi.
