they are good highway cars.Personally for an in city cruiser and even if i were to make road trips in the thing I would like the 1st gen for gas miealege and build quality reasons. So ultimately its up to the consumer and their preference, feel free to ask specific questions about the gen2.

Just curious -- what build quality issues do you have in mind (in fact, a pro and con between the versions would be interesting)? I've no experience with the original xB.

I have heard some issues on build quality between the cars, and I'm thinking it mainly concerns with the creaking of the car. Supposedly the xB1s don't creak like our xB2's do.

I'd suggest that if you have a buddy with an xB2, see if you can drive it around a little bit. Or rent one for a week. I don't know what it is, but the xB2 is so fun to drive. And I used to drive fast Pontiac Trans-Am's and Firebird's as my main car, then I switched to an Acura Legend for a couple years before buying a xB2.

nothing major, I have both. The first gen is smaller, lighter, stiffer and quieter than the gen2 the only con of the 1st gen i can find is you can feel bumps more...both cars have their place, the gen 2 is a bit more comfortable. I like the smallness and the gas miealege of the 1st gen...yes, im split personality, lol.

the 2nd gen stomps the 1st gen on everything besides gas mileage. i like the 1st gen but people need to get over it already. looks are subjective but performance isn't.

xB2s make a great driving car for everyday use. Every 1st gen xB owner should have one to help keep commuting miles off.
Just to clarify, xBs only ride harder because of the stock struts/shocks. Replace them with Monroes and all is good.

Say what? The first is a 'toaster', whereas the second is a 'breadbox'. Clearly, it's the second gen that's the "real" box ! (j/k)

Hey, let's not be partisan, they're both good vehicles.
