How much gas do you get in tank? WOW!
 

I have a 2010 xB and most of the time I fill up at about E and sometimes below. Usually I get about 11.5 to 12.5 gallons in there before pump clicks and sometimes I do a little more. Mileage ranges from 235-290 (maybe 300 all highway).

I hate filling up all the time.:icon_twisted: I wanted to go at least 300 miles between fill ups. I know the tank is a 14gal tank and I've got like 13.2gals in there once and like 12.9 a couple of times in the last 4 1/2yrs.

The last two times I filled up two Mondays ago and today I got 14.5 and today 14.7gals in.:eyes: The pump clicked at 12.3gal today. From the last fill up I was able to go 336.5 miles with it being way past E.:icon_smile: I hit 195miles at half tank. This was all city driving except for about 10-15 miles on the highway. I'll fill in what this tank gets later.

What are you guys/gals getting in your tank at E and below and how may miles per tank are you getting?

I never run any vehicle below 1/4 before filling. That being said, my wife loves to let the light come on, then she takes around 12 gallons.

I think the most I have ever filled up was like 12.5 gallons at one point... Range wise, my highest was like 385 on a tank. Usually at fillup, I put in around 11-11.5 gallons and have about 275-300 on my trip for that tank.

When I first got my xb, about 2 years ago, once I fill up. It use to say like 311 miles to go, now when I fill up it says about 230. Anyone know why this is?

I also get about 230-240 when I do normal fill up and no highway. I too used to get 300s no problem when we first got the car. We have now seen 300+ since I've been getting 14+ gallons in at the last 3 fill ups. The last one I got 15gal... Not sure how the hell that happened.

Thanks, I'll try topping off when I fill up next time to see if the automatic stop on the gas pump stops too soon.

Don't over fill your gas tanks guys. Simple google searches and you will find that you will have expensive repairs in your future.

It does terrible things to the evap system and that includes the charcoal canister. The canister in newer cars is not vented to the atmosphere like the older cars, so once saturated with raw gas, it doesn't clear after a few miles, it stays saturated for a while. This, of course, causes problems in the evap system and never ending 'check engine' codes. Other problems are raw gas mucking up evap sensors and valves, requiring them to be replaced. And some are not cheap. The evap system in newer cars is designed to sacrifice itself to prevent fuel spills from over-filling, so the constant punishment for over-topping the gas tank could lead to expensive repairs.

Dang! That's a pretty gnarly difference. What are your driving habits because I've seen both good and bad mileage on my car. I have a 2012 Xb - Auto Tranny. My low fuel light comes on whenever I reach 20-22 miles to empty. When I fill-up, it's always anywhere from 11-12 gallons. I know it's a 14 gallon tank but I've never had to put in over 12 gallons when my low fuel light becomes triggered. When the tank tops off, at the best I've seen 335 miles. And that's usually on a road trip where I'm driving mostly cruise control. Now my daily driving is different. Its a combo of freeway driving, Stop n go on the freeway cuz of traffic, and city streets. There I can still get 310 miles a tank. There have been instances of where I've done a full day of city driving and there its just crappy mileage. My gauge will calculate I've used 40 miles worth of fuel even though on my odometer I know I've only driven 10 miles. And it's that stop n go city driving that just kills it. You might want to take a day trip and run cruise control for a bit so your ECM will reprogram itself.

Almost all in city driving. I have the 2011 scion tc stock rims on. I don't know if they are heavy and have something to do with it. I don't drive hard. I always have my 3 year old daughter with me so I drive easy. It's a stick shift also.

I've been tracking my mpg since i bought my car in 2009. My average is around 23 mpg. I usually get around 250/tank if it goes to E. I can push it past E quite a ways but have at most been able to get just over 12 gallons in the tank. I've always wanted to have a spare tank of gas in the car just to push it till it runs out but I never have. The miles till empty is a joke. I wish i could recalibrate so the minute that gets to 0, my car is running out.

To the guy that never lets it get below 1/4 tank, more power to you. I use to be that way but got sick of constantly filling up. I drive around 250 miles a week so I was literally filling up every 3-4 days. Now that I push it to E I can at least go a week between fill ups.

Hi! I just bought my 2008 Scion XB and I'm surprised to see that it onlu does about 210 miles on a tank., How can this be possible? any ideas?

The gas gauge is very conservative. I almost always fill it up with 10 gallons, but this last time I let it run down beyond when the low fuel light goes on. I then switched the readout to range to see how many miles the computer said i had left. By the time I pulled into the gas station the range was down to 2 miles, but it only took 11.5 gallons, which meant there was still 2.5 gallons left in the tank.

SIGH!!! those complaining about lousy gas mileage, GO BUY ANOTHER CAR....the xB is an aerodynamic brick with a large thirsty motor....complaining that these cars only get 20mpg in town is like complaining that the dually Ford F350 with the big gas motor you bought only gets 5 mpg in town....

you guys make me laugh....these arent fuel efficient cars by any stretch of the imagination....

uppss I guess i was wrong..i thought they were fuel efficient

my '10 rs guzzles gas in comparison to the '07 i had.

I just joined the forums and posted a thread on this very subject. I have a 2013 xB and about 2 months ago all of the sudden I'm getting 75-100 miles LESS per tank! When I fill up it take s a tad more than 11 gallons.

What the hell?? Has anyone figured this out??
