Default I now you guys proably won't like to hear this

I know you guys won't like to hear this, but hey its a much nicer car lol.

So I have been car searching again. I am just into the xb2, not much of a car for me. Dont get me wrong its a great car! Very reliable, decent on gas, massive amounts of room, but for me its just not quick enough not fun enough, plain just not me

Now to the good part, I have been doing some nicer car searching. I am sticking with a toyota prodcut but a little more classier shall we say. I have been looking a tthe IS350 06+ models. As of late i feel in love with it. Drives amazing, fun motor trend got the 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and quater I believe in 13.5 stock. I have seen with just tires intake and exhuast hitting 12s.

I took into account all the other cars in the price range used or new. My budget is 30k roughly. The evo was my first car I looked at because of speed and handling capablities while still sticking with a 4 door, but the interior is was to blah ha. Then I checked out a audi s4 (acutally drove a new s5 to get a feel for the engine) sounded great but not near as fast as a is350 especially for having a v8 4.2 liter and more power. I can't justify that much lower of a gas mileage. Not much of a fan for audi's either.

I know what you guys are thinking I am 19 and such, I have my reasons and I can do this! Not asking for flamming just what people think of the car

did you put money down on the xb? if not than i will have to think you're negative on the xb and that negative will have to carry over unless you plan to cover that cost with a down payment. maybe you should follow the advice from your other thread about trading in the xb

Your insurance rates are going to skyrocket if you get into anything more powerful than an xb2.

I'd personally would keep the xb2 and save up some money to boost it. I'm 22 and one of the reasons I got an xb2 was because the insurance was way less than anything else I was looking at (GTO, Mazdaspeed 3, Civic Si).

Actually I didnt put down on the XB but at this point wether trading or selling myself I am lower then what they are going for. I have been paying more monethly every month I have owned the car and now I am adding a extra hundred or so a month to make sure I will be lower yet. I mos tlikely will be selling it privately depending on what I can get at the dealer but I wont know that till the time comes. I have to get some financial things in my life perfect befor eI continue on this next car. It will be roughly 6 months or so

being in the time we are in right now one think you have to ask yourself is job security.

What would happen if you lost your job and you are stuck with the payments with the IS? and like AAG mention insurance and registration will go up as well.

the IS's are great cars if you plan on going that way though

Right now I dont want to mod any car other then simple stuff. Just because of what happened with my last car. I modded it pretty well and then hit some gravel and totaled the car. So right now I am not putting 6-10k into any car just to make it as fast as a car I am trying to buy while taking away the same reliablilty along with complicating things. Also taking away the warrenty and such

What happened to bleeding red, white & blue Nasty?

BMW makes a great driving & handling car, but after being in the car biz for several years, I would never want to own one out of warranty. The reliability (and inherent lower repair costs) would put me in the used (uh, pre-owned) Lexus any day of the week.

these threads are a waste of time. you have already talked about trading the car in around july and now you're saying another 6 months. i will tell you from experience in looking to trade in one my cars recently. since no one is buying cars new or used than they are selling lower to try and move inventory. you will be very surprised to find a dealer to give you what you think its worth. on top of that trying to find a private party to finance in this economy will take a long time. trading in a buying new cars is nothing new to me either. from late 2003-2007 i have owned 6 new cars and since 2007 i have kept the last two cars i have bought and not going to trade in for anything in the near future.

I drove a friends amg benz and man, I was blown away. Then I found out it got 12mpg.

Anyhoo, I am leaving the xb for my parents to use and getting a used 99 geo metro to drive for fuel economy. The blown tacoma is soon to be sold to go back to school to get more certifications and degrees. Going to the medical field. ...

Well I had an 06 IS-350. I traded it in (for my 09 xB) because I wanted to cut back on my costs. xB is about $250 less a month payment + you have to use premium gas which is alot better now. Service is a lot higher, oh and insurance. If you can afford it go for it! I love the car, driving it was awesome.

I love my xB and the Scion people, meets, etc. that I am proud to drive my box and love it more than the IS. The box has a soul, its more than just a car.

MMmmmm IS350- That car is awesome, I used to have a dark blue one, sport package. It's a great car, high quality and I promise car meets are just as friendly as the Scion ones ;) (Well at least, for Club Lexus, can't say the same for My.IS) hehe

If you can do it, I say go for it!
*aside from the cost of insurance, maintenance, monthly payments, etc, also keep in mind the modifications for an IS are pretty hefty in cost when compared to Scion and can hurt your wallet too hehe*

IS is a great car, but right now in this economy doesnt seem practical unless you can really afford all the additional costs that come with the name plate of Lexus.

My other car is an old Eclipse and it's definitely more fun than the xB, though it also gets worse gas mileage and prefers more expensive gas and has way less storage capacity !

Either car choice has advantages/disadvantages. You just have to decide which mix works best for you!

I was 20 when I thought I could afford an IS300, then I realized I was delusional and I bought my '03 S10 Xtreme and found out I could barely afford that! We all have these dreams, then you wake up and smell the roses. I ended up getting a better job and blowing $15k in mods on that truck, on top of the $20k I paid for it. I just recently sold it for $1500....haha...makes me sick.

Anyway...I've driven several IS250s and 350s, and they are very nice cars. But you've already got a new car...be content with what you have because you may lose it all at any time...especially in the shape the economy is right now.
