Default Losing interest in my xb2... Anyone else?

So after being an owner for a little over three years, Ive hit the point where I just dont care for my ride like I use to...

Dont get me wrong, I still love it but the days of me wanting to mod it more and potentially boosting it have all gone out the door. Trying to keep the odometer low doesnt really bother me any longer either (Im actually excited about reaching the 100k but thats still 61k miles away lol).

I guess I have my brother to thank for this after he let me drive his 2nd gen SVT Lightning (which is stock btw). It made want to trade in the xb2 for a v8 rwd vehicle the next day lol. I told my fiance all this and she is ____ED because my xmas gifts were going to be for my ride.

Im about 80% sure I'll keep it but in early 2011 I plan to pay it off early and get something like a 03/04 Cobra/Mach 1 or 04-06 GTO. It'll be the garage queen/ weekend warrior while the xb2 will still keep its daily duty. The other part making me feel like this is I turn 25 in March and owning a "fast" car might be finally affordable insurance wise.

Anyone else here who's had similar feelings?

I go through dry spells with my car. I just have to constantly have my hands in things or I get bored of everything. I have a poo load of money in my car but thats not going to stop me from driving it lol. I just hit 70k and I have only owned the car for 2 years last July.

I love driving my car even though I have a company car I still cant help but drive it to work most days haha.

It seems when I hit the 3 year mark with cars in general I always loose interest I did it with my gen1 xb and now with my gen2 xb. I guess once your at the point of finishing your car there is only so much you can do with it till you get bored.....

I know what you mean, I havn't had mine for all that long and already I'm lusting for a mazdaspeed6 or even the new tC... but the damn thing screws with my emotions more than a girl, one day I won't be content with it because I know I have a long road ahead and a lot of money to get it to what I wantb (turbo, axis kit, roof rack etc.) but then other days I'll damn near get a boner when I see it parked outside, still wet from the rain. I love my xB2

I know just what you mean. I've had mine for a year and a half. It's like a constant battle between good and evil is going on inside my head. Good being keep it, evil being get rid of it and get a CTS-V. I know i'll end up keeping it, paying it off early, and then moving on to a fast car in addition. My gf looks at me like i'm a moron the way I talk about getting rid of my xB2 and then talk about how i like it so much and want to keep it haha.

On a sidenote, you may wanna 2nd guess the GTO. I too was thinking about picking one up, but after seeing the myriad of issues they tend to have, it turned me right off.

I've been over my xB since the purchase of my 97 Q45... a traditional VIP platform car is more my style.

Mine went on 3 years last month. These feelings for me, have come from trying to make this car what it isnt. Fast and sporty lol. Its all been a learning process for me and now I just want to make my car reliable, clean, and fun to daily drive which it pretty much already is. Only mod I have left on my list is wheels. My next car will either be an all out race project or something thats packing it all like a curretn gen wrx. I love my xB and its quick enough for me but only when Im the only one in the car... lol

hmmmm. 2 years in. looovveee it. then again im so into finding cheap mods to do to it. Aka lighting effects, and just lil tweaks that just give that extra siiicknes. though i do yearn for some something with boost and a manual shift box. the xb just does its job too well. though i just took my blue rims off for the winter and it just looks so plain noww.......sooooo underbody light kit time!

Three years in and I still like modding it, the problem is the mods have started to get really expensive and/or time consuming.

I get that feeling sometimes. But after having to use a Mazda 3 and a Chevy Cobalt, I was glad to get my xb back. Love the headroom in the box. I just felt closed in while in the other cars.

It's an issue with anything, you'll eventually grow bored of it and want something different. Like many here we grew old of traditional cars that blend in and wanted one that stood out. Mods in varying amounts help but ultimately changing cars is the best. That is why leasing is great if you can afford it and don't mind regular payments.

Odd..I just did the opposite of you. I had a z3 I bought wrecked, and drove it for a few years...but grew insanely tired of the lack of...well..anything but a single passenger seat.

I just got my xb back today, and am in love with the huge amount of space, cheap aftermarket, etc :D

Either way, I hope you get something you like, just a reminder that there will ALWAYS be a "the grass is always greener" feeling :D

I always keep cars 'til they die. I'll have had the xB2 three years in January and I'm not aware of anything further I'd like to change. But for me, that means I'm happy with it the way I've got it . My Eclipse GSX is twenty one years old and is still my favorite to drive, but the xB2 is very good, more practical, and both have mods based on features in the other ! I'd say both cars are pretty much exactly the way I want them, and so that doesn't make the idea of a new car especially attractive. Unfortunately, I currently can't afford to keep both on the road, and so the Eclipse is parked.

I hear ya... I have bags, most of the bolt on stuff, the car is clean and super low mileage (14,980 last time I looked) and I have started eyeballing the quad cab Tacoma with great desire. I have seen a couple around lifted nicely with nice wheels and I find myself thinking about how much I miss my 01 Wrangler. I miss the " who gives a crap if it's dirty" feeling of offroad vehicles. I even started pricing them. Ironically, my car was purchased in June of 2007, so I guess it is a three year mark thing maybe? Anyways, I also think the Scion scene may be factored in too. Some of the knuckleheads that gravitate towards this brand make it hard to be enthusiastic at times... I remember how laid back and fun the wheelin' clubs I belonged to were out on the trails. Nobody whining about trophies or competing to have better long arm kits, etc. Definitely none of this " My truck is .5 inches taller than yours! Epic Fail!" bull____... I am nearing pay off so we will see... I may just drive the flippin wheels off this car and then buy something else and use the xB2 as a parts getter. :D

I've been kind of "unmoding" mine in anticipation of finding a good deal on a local 540i M-sport or 330i ZHP. I'm more of an enthusiast rather than a show car guy/moder/stylist and the xB is just not satisfying to drive. I love looking at it, but that's it. Really miss the solid and secure feel of a european car.

I feel the same, that's why I'm planning on getting an S2000 for a summer/weekend car next year.
