Would 80whp really only net you .04 seconds? Not haten or anything just wondering if you really only have ~220whp and that’s why your tranny is still in one piece lol.
That track run was with a different tune, not this one. Also, Fred had more than 220 at the time of his pull. Dynos don't mean anything other than comparing modifications done the same day, or tuning purposes. I've had people tell me that there is no way I can do 14 with 220. I believe when I did that pull I was 265 - 270 and I also had a slow 60 ft due to slipping. So yes, I am certain I have 300 now. I will post a new run within a week, should be in the mid/high 13s.

The reason I asked about the WG vacuum connections is because in the first engine photo where you still have the stock Descendant kit, it pretty clearly shows hoses attached to both chambers of the wastegate. I have no idea where those hoses go to but it prompted my question.

Anyway, thanks for posting this build thread, best of luck getting the boost under control and may your tune be perfect!

I'm still not sure what photo you're looking at. If you're looking at the final one, blow it up big and zoom in and you'll see there are no VAC lines period. They are unattached. But either way, we were having VAC issues and installed a vacuum block that day, that's why the wires may be misaligned. But yes... I had a 4 psi spring and I was boosting 8.5 lbs... That's what I've had for a few months. It HAPPENED to work out fine. But either way I think the second wastegate will put everything under control. Hopefully. Boost controller did nothing (obviously). But getting rid of the catalytic converter (back pressure) caused ALL of this.

I just looked at older photos again and realized it was only one VAC line on the side. The other nozzle is pointed down and just appears to have one. I have a few photos up close and it doesn't have one.

This one:

It looked to me like there are black vacuum hoses attached to both WG nipples but apparently I was wrong. It's a moot point now since you've already said that the wastegate was set up correctly. I was just searching for some explanation for the worst case of boost creep I've ever heard of.

Is Descendant going to make changes to their manifold in light of this very serious issue? If not, there are going to be a lot of unhappy customers when they destroy their engines because the wastegate is totally inadequate. I sure won't be recommending their kit to anyone until they fix this. Hitting 20 psi with a 4 psi WG spring is ridiculously dangerous.

I guess I was lucky because when I switched from the stock exhaust to a 3" catless, my max boost stayed exactly the same with no spikes or creep. 6 psi spring = 6 psi boost (+/-1 psi). Anyway, good luck with it and please keep the updates coming. I'm very eager to see some dyno sheets.

I'm not sure what descendant is going to do. I'm also not sure if it's just MY propblem, but I don't believe so. I took every step possible to check to see if it was OUR mistake before spending even more money on it. But the moment I saw I had a 4 psi spring and I had 8.5 psi normally, I knew there was boost creep even before the cat delete... I'm keeping them updated along the way, but I'm surely not very happy with spending more money. It's not cheap modifying a manifold with a second wastegate. I'll have more updates within 24 hours, probably not a dyno sheet, but track numbers within a week if it all goes well.

Just picked the car up! Running great! The dual wastegate gave us more control over the boost. Turns out the car will shift at 10/11 PSI, then we'll get creep to 14/15 PSI before the next shift which then it'll go back down to 10/11. Ends up working beautifully. I'm going to put two videos and one two pictures in. One is going to be me quickly testing the dual-wastegate concept as I'm driving home. Please excuse the leanness in the beginning, that was my fault for not getting on the pedal correctly. I let off around 82, right after it shifted (at about 72)... FDOT was parked ahead. The shift was nice and clean, but you can see the boost creep after the shift and you only hear me letting off. Car goes a little rich but pulls like a _____. Exhaust sounds great. The other video is a walk-around of the engine compartment. I assure you, I floored it about 10 times going home, it's absolutely awesome. Shifts beautifully in every gear, even did a 2k RPM pull from 0. Hopefully if it doesn't rain today, TRACK TONIGHT!! (And videos!)

Full car picture w/ new exhaust...

We got the boost creep under control! Now I just have to fix the richness in 3rd gear and I'm done! Did a few pulls at the track last night (85 degrees out) and realized when I hit 3rd gear, I was 10.0 AFRs... Way too rich. BUT, I still rant fastest time ever.. 14.049 and 14.062! I also ran my fastest trap speed.. 101.53! Either way, the 10.0 AFRs in 3rd gear need to be 11.5 - 11.9... Huge holdback.

I don't get it? so once you have the fastest tissue box in the states then what do you do with it? nice build though, interesting mods.

I want to see a new dyno tune with proper afrs, you said 300whp but those times equate to about 225-235whp. Either way it's going to be nice seeing this thing clicking off 13s

You know what really sucks? Me having to waste MY time to respond to other responses like this. No offense, but PLEASE, PLEASE read the FULL 2 pages before posting. I know, 2 pages is A LOT, and I know the pictures are very hard to see... but you can do it! Now, let me please waste my time and respond to everything you have written.

[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]looks like ill add to the list (yet again) of 2011 turbo A/T xB's. Decided I couldnt part w the descendant kit, every young kid wants a huge turbo discount due to "economic times"....so I had so many buyers back out...and honestly, for the amount of use, and condition I keep my vehicles in, I wouldnt take a penny less than $1000 off the original MSRP for my 2,500 miles used descendant kit. 2 words that young people dont understand when it comes to boost.........."cheap" or "economic" is NEVER part of the equation. As many have found including yourself, you can go with a "cheap" kit, but you loose the functionality of customer service, and true "bolt on fitting parts" that you can swap on and off frequently if needs be, which proved to be useful in my situation.[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]

What is this? Start your own thread.

[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]Therefore, subscribed to this thread.[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]

Thank you, please read it.

[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]To the OP, nice looking box, and choice of kit.......thats insane boost creep issues, I can tell you that I ran 8.7 and 10.2 safely off the wastegate spring (no electronic turbo controller!!!), and always saw within .1 of the same PSI CONSISTENTLY.[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]

Please read what I have already written and discussed with two people on this thread... Before the deletion of the CAT and stock intake box, my boost was 8.5 on the dot. At all times. Hence......... what? CAT and Intake box cause the issue. Next.

[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407] I would venture to assume that you have charge pipe or throttle body issues (as I did), or a possibly leak elsewhere.[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]

No.

[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]As me and scionfred discussed late last year with my build, the weak point of the descendant kit is the fact that they dont use T-clamps on their intercooler pipes, or at least on the "hot side", where heat expands constantly, loosening the standard regular clamps over time......I would look into that. There is absolutely ZERO reason that the descendant manifold should be lacking at any point, If I recall, Rob had told me the v2 V-band style kits were safe up until 20 PSI.....albeit you would have fuel and tuning issues long before you would hit the kits point of "functionality".[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]

I have confirmation from DESCENDANT stating that they have a flaw in the manifold design where after deletion of the stock airbox, and the stock cat, you cannot control boost with the supplied wastegate.... Once again, I already said this.

[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407] As well, your 100% positive you are running the correct bar (brown 4.3 psi) spring right? Brown, NOT copper??? How are you measuring your boost levels since I only see the AEM AFR wideband, and no boost gauge??? Did you triple check the orange diaphram seal to ensure it didnt have any leaks, and was properly sealing the WG, and not "pinched"??[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]

Really? Trust me, I'm measuring my boost. I'm not guessing. I TOOK OUT THE SPRINGS TOTALLY. Which means 100% open wastegate... guess what? 20 PSI. Good idea though. Once again, I already said this.

[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]Also, why the need for dual blow off valves? You already have a recir bosch with the kit. were you just looking after the "whooosh" sound? Im almost inclined to say that the second eternal BOV may be your culprit.[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]

I'm going to ignore this.

[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]What was the need for the cone filter? Im sure you were told by descendant, the reason they keep the stock box incorporated into their kit, is the functionality of maintaining near stock readings with the maf sensor, and the reason that you will probably net gain (if that), not more than 5hp going with a cone, over the traditional box. Sure the cone filter makes a cool sound, however once that WG opens up to that dump tube, that is the ONLY thing you will hear under or outside the hood. My old neighbors would tell me that from 2 blocks away, they would hear my dump tube of my "huge-___ turbo", over my exhaust/engine/or 3 12's pounding in the rear. You should PM scionfred on this topic....he has more factual info than I do on the benefits of the stock airbox.[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]

Now, let me explain something here. And listen VERY, VERY closely. If you think having your AFRs go up... and down... and up... and down.... is normal, it's not. It's due to the stock airbox. Now, with the addition of this custom cone, and the custom tubing, I have 14.7 AFRs UNDER ALL NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. Please, this is very important to me to have consistent driving under normal, FUEL EFFICIENT conditions... The stock airbox creates a vortex around the MAF sensor, causing pressure drops and AFR fluctuation... this fixed it.

[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]Im not saying you/your installer/tuner werent competent enough on the install.....im just saying that with a 95% confidence level interval, I can DOUBT the kit itself is to blame. My apologies for the amount of questions or the insinuations, but it seems that you took a stock descendant kit, made several modifications to it, and wondered why the issues. Their kit was designed for every component to be run in unison....so once you start making modifications to it, you can no longer place the blame on one single component.[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]

Let me tell you, in 100% confidence level, that the manifold is to blame. I had confirmation from Kareem at decendant saying this is a known issue... the kit is meant to work at normal boost levels (stock air-box, and cat), or at high boost levels only. I just happened to find a work-around by adding a second wastegate to the center of the manifold to alleviate the pressure.

[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]While on one hand I commend you for adding to an otherwise "dead board section", I question your modifications and extra money you spent to tailor the kit to your personal tastes, primarily because the rate of return (in actual HP) seems to be fairly low. Im just trying to get a better feel for what your decisions and rationale is based off? In the end, no one likes seeing the same old build over again, regardless if its a different manufacturer, so im sure you felt the need to be unique, which you most certainly did accomplish.[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]

Now, what exactly did you say here that was important? PERSONAL TASTE. The end.

[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]Seems irrelevant now anyways since you seemed to have worked most of those problems out now. As I said before, you already made an excellent choice of vehicle and kit![QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]

Something positive and relevant.

[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]Also, I would look into getting yourself an external mishimoto trans cooler, and their radiator to keep that heat down, along with a synthetic blend of your choice (since I didnt see one in the pics)[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]

Really? I didn't think I even had to show my transmission cooler. Of course I have one.

[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]I am on my second transmission within 2500 miles of installing my kit, and I was very conservative on the trans you can PM me or scionfred if you are in disbelief on that fact. NEVER had a single slip, and one day, it just went BOOM while NOT under ANY boost! I was at 16K when the initial install was done, and right now im at about 18,4K and change (been sitting under cover for months).[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]

I have 8000 miles on my transmission already with frequent track trips... and that was with running 14 PSI for 500 miles. Hopefully it holds at the current tune... now, I'm sure you have heard this before... IT IS ALL IN THE TUNING.

[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]knowing what I know now, my recommendation for ALL 08-12 AUTO owners is to go with the "tuner friendly" option, use the stock injectors and stock ecm, as scionfred has recommended countless times, and get yourself an external trans cooler and keep things around 4-5PSI 230-240 hp range. I could have saved myself $2000 in repairs, and thats including I was fortunate enough to get myself a practically brand new U251e trans with 60 (sixty) miles on it![QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]

I highly, HIGHLY, HIGHLY disagree with this. YOU NEED TO HAVE A GOOD TUNER TUNE YOUR CAR. PERIOD. NO DISCUSSION. 4-5 PSI @ 240 HP????? What are you running? 13 AFRs under WOT? Get out of here man. This is bad advice.

[QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]Ive got pics for those in disbelief........trust me, you wont last long at that PSI range![QUOTE=Clean_XB;4023407]

Thanks. Please unsubscribe.

Anyways, I guess it didn't take me 20 minutes...

Correct. And it's always been without a boost line because I don't run a boost controller. It just LOOKS like it has a line, but it never did.

YES! Very soon!! Just did my re-tune yesterday when we talked on the phone, very, very good tune! We messed with the voltage and got rid of any weird AFR/Turbo spooling lag... it's odd, but it's working great now. Beautiful AFRs, as I said, I'm still running rich (which is on purpose). Around.. 10.9 - 11.2 depending on the gear and temps...

Also, got my turbo timer installed, working great! Will save me some time!
Tomorrow, (Thursday at 10:00AM), I am getting my new DEI CRY02 INTERCOOLER SPRAYER installed w/ a 10 LB tank! Mostly for the cool white-ish mist......
