ok so they filled the motor with oil and sealed the oil cap and drain plug with a tamper proof seal. They said to come back between 1100-1300 miles and they will see what she burned.

I have a 2014 xB and I also got this warranty enhancement letter from Scion just the other day. Now I had read that this problem was limited to 2008-2009 for the xB and that the pistons were redesigned or something to alleviate the problem in later model years. Now I am wondering if oil consumption has been reported in newer vehicles or are they extending the warranty enhancement to all vehicles with this engine as a courtesy.

I can't believe that Toyota/Scion would have continued to sell other new vehicles for years after the fact with the same defect after acknowledging the problem without ensuring that the piston assembly was upgraded in those vehicles before they were sold.
There is a class action lawsuit that is pressuring them to address this issue. So my thinking was that as a sign of good faith, they were providing this new warranty enhancement to all vehicles with this engine, even those vehicles who had the upgraded piston assembly installed before they left the factory.
Now I see that you have a 2010 xB and you think that your vehicle has the same oil consumption problem. According the the TSB, your vehicle should have come equipped with the upgraded piston assembly. You should ask the dealer if your vehicle had the new piston assembly installed at the factory.

even though the title says its a 2010 it was manufactured DEC2009 so I assume it has a defective motor. I change my oil every 3K always have. And mine uses about 1 1/2 quarts of oil in that time. So if i let it go 5K it would use a lot more. My car only has 58K miles on it too. It doesnt matter what year the scion or toyota is because again im sure they produced thousands of the defective 2.4's and they went into camry's, rav4's and tc's regardless of the year. My uncle is head of parts distribution for toyota and he said they make a tonw of the motors before they are even put into the cars. Why so you think toyota sold all those 1.81Z's to GM
