Guys this might be a stupid question but I just started noticing that when I open my doors I get one single beep like when you leave the lights on. i've never noticed this before. Is this A.) normal 2.) something I somehow activated or D.) trying to let me know something is up?

 

My experience is that beep indicates the Scion accessory security system was activated at least once! Kind of depressing since in my case, it usually happens over night and is due to garbage dropping off the trees bordering my driveway . I realize this sounds bad (in an ECO sense), but I really hate those f'ing trees !

 

Interesting. I'm not aware if my car has this accessory. I've never seen it set off before. This has been a recent development from the past two days and it beeps every time I open the door. I can open and close the door 5 times and every time it will beep once as the door is swinging open. Is there a reset on the security feature or something? I've locked and unlocked the car several times but it still persists.

 

Do you have an aftermarket securty system?

The hazards will also stay constantly lit for about 15 seconds after unlocking/disarming the Scion Security System to let you know it went off.

 

And your sure your headlights and fogs are to the off postion. We don't have Auto lights....

 

No after market security and yes the lights are off.

 

Could it be a bad door sensor reading? I'll keep pondering this.....

 

That's weird. So when you open the door is it a short beep or is it a really long beep that stays on as long as the door's open?

 

Short beep lasting 1 second. I stopped by a dealership and they were clueless.

 

U kno i just noticed that on mine too, and mine is brand new... Every single time i shut it down and open the door.... I'm chalking it up to the car saying it's casual goodbye lol

 

Tried everything to recreate the beep sound on mine and no luck...Maybe a wierd wiring issue with anything plugged into the USB? I'll keep hunting down something...

 

LOL! It's normal. My 08 white one didn't do it, but my 08 rs does. Just let's you know the door was opened. Nothing to worry about.

 

Doesn't sound normal if it isn't happening on the majority of XB's here. It's has to be some weird programming option. I'll ask my son if he has heard of this happening.....

 

That's what I'm thinking too because I KNOW that mine was not doing this a week ago. I was tinkering in my car with my audio gear and was disconnecting the battery and what not, plus sometimes when I squat down my keys in my pocket press my lock and unlock buttons on my remote and I was wondering if some key press combination activated this feature. It sounds like that some do this and some do not. I'm just wondering why this would be something to turn on or off.

 

i have the scion security system and mine doesnt do this. I havent heard of any of them doing it.

 

This may not be helpful, but my 2008 only beeps when I open the door after driving if either my parking or head lights are turned on, or the key is still in the ignition. That's intended as a reminder, but otherwise, no beep.

 

Well if it's not normal, then my RS has been doing this since day one when I first bought the car with 44 miles on it...

Also, seems like the only people that's noticing this said beep is RS5 owners.

 

This started on my 2013 yesterday. Was this ever figured out or resolved?

I have no security system. All stock. Lights are off dome is off, everything is closed and sealed key is out.

Just a short beep when I open the driver side door only.
Has 2400 miles on it.

Any ideas?

I don't have a cure for THIS perticular concern, but I did have a Problem with mine not beeping at all when I locked with remote, shortly after buying my car (3 days after driving it home).

After I went to the dealership and no one could identify why mine was doing this, on the way home, I went by the full service car wash, where they opened and shut every door on the vehicle. After I left the Car wash.... Never had the problem again.

I went to the trouble of reading the owners manual and found several owner modifiable features while it wasn't working right, and know you can inadvertently set and remove some features using the remote and a bunch of coincidental freak events.... but it is highly unlikely.

I'd suggest doing as the car wash did to fix mine, and go around and open all the doors and the hatch, and shut them soundly and try again.

 

My RS8 does this as well. I've never been worried about it.
