Peeling Paint..

Peeling Paint..
I'm looking for other owners who may have a problem with peeling paint on their xB. I drive a 2012 Scion xB, and it currently looks like a snow leopard; peeling paint and bubbles.
My warranty has already expired, but this is definitely NOT normal wear and tear. This is a manufacturers defect that Toyota won’t stand behind.
Can anyone help me with similar stories??
Rebecca

It's called cheap, thin, low VOCs paint that has to be used to paint cars now a days due to EPA mandates. The paint does stand up over time as well as a nice thick single stage enamel paint but it is a lot better for the environment. It is more prevalent in hotter climates because it is mainly caused by the clear coat and base coat expanding and contracting at slightly different rates and eventually causing the clear coat to delaminate and peel.
It's not a problem with just Toyota, it's across the board with all manufacturers. You can either learn to live with it or get it repainted but I wouldn't wait on any manufacturer covering it out of warranty.
