Default Self Tire Rotation

How many of you do your own tire rotations?

I am due for my next rotation next week, so instead of paying the dealer to do it ($26!) I want to do it myself. I bought a Husky torque wrench off ebay new so I can ensure the torque is correct afterwards (76 ft lbs).

How easy/hard will it be to do this with only the supplied jack in the car? I know I will have to put a spare in the place, drop it and raise it a few times and it may take some time, but regardless of that, is it pretty straight forward?

I know where the jack points are and the methods of removing, replacing and retorquing the tire, I just want to hear if anybody else does it this way? haha

You're going to jack up the car, put on the spare, drop the car, jack it back up, swap wheels, drop it, jack it, swap wheels, drop it, jack it, swap wheels, drop it, jack it, swap wheels, drop it, jack it, take off the spare and drop it? Dude, I'd pay the $26.

Time is not an issue... I don't care if it takes an hour to do, I have plenty of time, lol.

What about using two scissor lifts to raise the entire side to just swap the tires in one go? Would that work out?

do it the right way man, get a 2 ton jack and some stands, oh and btw dont use the torque wrench to take off the lugnuts, you could damage the interenal spring and render the torque wrench useless.

why pay for something so easy to do? hmm..guess that explains why everyone thinks Americans are over weight. Something as simple as this you can do it yourself but no people are too lazy for it. It does not take you 30 minutes to do..more like 10 minutes.

Alright, so when I do purchase the lift and jack stands, would I lift for example the front, place the stand, lower the jack, raise back with jack, place next stand, swap tires, lower, etc... Then do the other side?

Im a n00b as far as jacking the car goes and I just want to do it safely. Is that the proper way to do it?

I have that one, works just fine. after thinking about all I've done to the car aside from rotaing tires and changing oil.

header install
exhaust install
lighting installs
spring installs

they are worth their weight in gold

I see that you're 19 years old. Your time probably has little value to anyone at this point in your life. When you're older and have lots of money and little time, you'll understand.

My tires rotate as I drive... That's my "self tire rotation".

Gonna pick up a floor jack and stands are Home Depot or Walmart tomorrow.

Now, when using the jack and stands, do I raise the car in the spot indicated in the manual (say the front) and then place the jack stand right next to it? Then can I lower the jack while the car rests on the stand and then raise up the rear and place it on stands then do the rotation?

Is that the proper way?

haha i see that your 42..hmm i guess i do have more time than you, considering your about to die. It just surprises me how you cant even take out ten minutes from your busy schedule to work on your car. I cant imagine you washing your car or pumping your own gas because you just dont have enough time. But to give you a little clue old man, if i had lots of money..i wouldnt be driving a Scion and i dont think you have much money because your basically driving a Scion that was targeted to the Y generation..something we can afford. Taking out 10 minutes of your time to surf this forum is way more important than rotating your tires.

I love how you hid behind your screen name and talk to someone twice your age like that...

10:1 you wouldn't have the gully to say those exact words if this was a convo face to face and we were all in a circle.

Obviously you're parents didnt teach you manners or if they did you werent paying attention...

Invertalon - Jack up the car at the lift points the manufacture has provided (see manual or look underneath car for the triangle shapes that indicate lift points) front first with e brake on and a tire chalk to be extra safe. Put two jacks stands in the front (not sure what the underneath of a xB looks like) on a safe supportive place) then do the same to the rear then rotate the wheels....

Plus didnt your parents ever tell you to mind your own business? I guess not
