So who's the old guy? **UPDATED w/ pics 7/4/07**

That would be me. New to your forum. Hope to pick up my 08 Blackberry XB2 tomorrow A.M.

I'm pretty far from the demographic on this product line. I'll be knock, knock, knockin' on 50's door when I turn 49 at the end of this month.

Hated the Gen 1 XB's when they came out but they quickly grew on me. Coming off a V8 Tundra I just couldn't pull the trigger on the 1.4L engine.

Out comes the 2008 version. Lower roof, bigger engine, slightly retro look. I was hooked.

Just going with chrome wheels in the stock 16" that a bud is hooking me up with.

I'll leave all the insane mods to you young'uns. I ride an 06 Harley-Davidson Street Glide that's all tricked out so I'll just sit back and enjoy the mod-madness that you guys and gals go through on your Scions.

Stopped off at the Scion event at Irwindale Speedway in Calif last week. Boy did I feel old. Just wanted to see what kind of mods were going on; Lambo doors, wheels of all kinds, incredible sound systems and positively sick paint jobs.

Half the young dudes looked at me like I was coming after them for scamming on my daughter or something. The pretty young women just looked right through me as if I were invisible but that's cool. My oldest daughter is 25. Older than most of the young women there. Like I said I was just there to check out the rides.

So if you see a an old tanned guy with a shaved head and a biker's chain hanging from his wallet fret not. I'm not you're girlfriends' Dad or some old perv lurking around.

It's just me, Primo there to check out what your wild imaginations have dreamed up.

Ride Safe/ Drive safe/ Love safe,

Primo58

Part 2: Here's the before and after with the new wheels. Turns out my buddies' 16's had the wrong bolt pattern so I ended up picking up these 17's instead.

Exactly!
Think of it as therapy.
It is just too painful to look at the gap in those wheels wells.
You really need the fog lights for safety.
An invisible mask just makes good sense.
As you get older improved night vision is important. Gotta have those HID's.
Too much metal in the 80's? Need to upgrade the speakers to compensate for the hearing loss.
A little extra tint on the sides will help prevent excess UV exposure and skin cancer.
And it goes without saying that leather with heated seats helps out with the stiffness of arthritis. :lalala:

It's all about direction. :P

OldYeller 07-03-2007 07:15 AM

Sorry I didn't meet you at Irwindale Primo!! Old Yeller was goin up and down the track. Most of the young guys at the meets are pretty cool with us old Skewlers. Welcome aboard.

I wasn't planning on doing anything to mine other than putting wheels on since it is what my wife mostly drives. But now I need a wing, fogs, tint, drop, subwoofer, HID's, lip kit, LED Tails/Signals/interior lights and a bunch of other stuff. Just waiting on the aftermarket.

Enjoy your Blackberry Crush, I know I do.

Welcome aboard, ignore the trolls. ;)

Primo58 07-03-2007 03:34 PM

Thanks for the welcome. Luckily for me not quite in need of Viagra yet.

As for the trolls these guys are nothing compared to the ones we have to ocassionaly squelch on my Harley forum.

It's all good.

Now I'm off to hopefully pick up my new ride. It was supposed to have come in last night.

Fingers crossed and pics to follow.

Drive Safe/ Ride Safe/ Love Safe,

*cough* :lalala: Yeah, you'd think, wouldn't you? ;)

I predict you will make many friends on this forum. You guys really just need to have a meet at this point. :)

Actually, you should! Quit messing with your 401K and get on that! I expect to see at least two signatures with phrases like ARE YOU READY FOR...XBOOMER '07?!? by the end of the summer!

Welcome to the Scion Community Primo58. I don't think the demographics are exactly what Scion predicted. We have members in our club in their 60's. I myself am knocking on 40's door in a few months.

Enjoy your xB2.
