Default Two questions regarding Scion XB2???

1. A lot of people on differenet forums keep bi*ching about quality of plastic . I test drove an XB and plastic does look cheap...but, besides the looks what else is so bad about this plastic? Does it scratches easily? Is it hard to clean? What is wrong with plastic from the practical point of view? Nothing?
2. Stock stereo.....let's say it's not great. Sounds like underwater. I am not rich and not planning to spend xtra $ on premium stereo and that is why I have the following questions: in order to have a decent sound do I need to change just a deck? or there is a quality problem with speakers?
( My Camry 1992 with new $150 Pioneer deck and 16 yr. old speakers sounds better than new XB's stereo system.)

1.) I never have a problem with the plastics, other then they will scratch easily. No other issue with them, they are just soft so will scuff.

2.) Don't judge the radio unless you have time to mess with the settings. Most likely the radio is not setup correctly. My radio was stock on xD settings, not xB. Ensure it is on xB acoustics and then put it on "Feel". The audio is full bodied and sounds great.

1. Like Invertalon said the plastic does scuff easily, but it wipes off pretty good with a damp cloth.

2. My radio was set to TC when I got it and it does sound the worst. I keep moving from XD to XB depending on what I'm listening to. I also keep it on "Feel".

I haven't been able to figure out how to change xB/xD/tC setting; only setting I see is the SSP "Feel/Neutral/Hear". And of course the audio settings where you can set individually the bass/treble etc.

Any help?

Thanks; I'll check it next time I'm in my car. The manual for the stock radio makes NO mention of this, only the SSP Feel/Neutral/Hear settings.

so i ran outside and checked mine and it says "tC"! WTF!

so i try holding down the SSP button to try to change it to xB and it does nothing for several seconds and goes back to the regular screen showing the station numbers.

So............is there a 1.2.3. process to follow?

I'm doing this from memory, but once it shows tC you use the volume **** to change it.

Plastic is plastic... It will scratch, fade, and maybe even crack over time... But that will happen with any car over a LONG period of time...

As for the sound system... It is really good for the price. I know BMW charges an extra $300+ for Ipod compatiblity... The speakers are ok, but could be better... Upgrade to aftermarket cheap ones for a little better quality... But the stock head unit is solid for the price...

Also some sound deading in the doors will help with the road noise/sound quality...

(my 2 cents)

The stock radio isn't bad at all. It's actually better than the 6 disk changer and 6 speakers I had in my WRX. And the xB, xD, tC settings really make a difference. Very clear and has a good warmth to the tone. The plastics look pretty nice but I haven't had to clean them yet so we'll see.
