I had no idea the Scion was going to cost 23K? Come on, not even close in price range. If you dont like the scion, fine, just picking at straws is lame IMO.

I sat in an Element at the Chicgao auto show. It was fairly cramped. Plus I just think it looks dorky. However if it cost about 6 g's less, i'd take it for a comparison spin.

Honda can really put a good car together. Both them and Toyota seem to be competing to be the most green. That's something Chevy just picked up on with the Volt.

The dealer told me it would be close to the old b in price when I ordered it.

FYI -
Element only fits 4 - also have to open front door to open rear door.
Can be a PITA. ALso gas mileage not as good.

XB2. It has 4 doors, and seems to have more potential to customize it.

I have a xb1 and my wife drives an element.


It is hard to compare it to the xB2 since we do not have price/mpg figures.


The element is absolutely not cramped. If you put the seat down and back, it is very roomy. And the back seat has tons of leg room. Not a ton of headroom back there though.


The suicide doors are a pain, as the person in the front seat has to unbuckle for the rear doors to be able to open.

We are considering selling my wifes since we plan on starting a family in the next year or so. With the suicide doors the rear seats are much further back than the door opening, which will make it difficult to lift a child up and into a car seat back there.

The 2.4 in the element is a nice motor, and it drives very nice, but it is very noisy on the inside due to no carpet and plastics everywhere.

I put a bunch of sound deadening in my xB so it is much quieter.

Plus there's that ridiculous 675-lb max load capacity. Four guys could exceed that all by themselves, not to mention their stuff.

The Element is a crossover, a boxy car-based SUV. The xB2 is a small station wagon. They're not really in the same class. The one thing that might attract me to an Element is if I had to routinely carry stuff that made use of its cargo height and easily-cleaned interior, like a couple of bikes, say.

The element is great for hauling stuff. The way the seats flip up or are easily removed is great.


The element is rated to tow 1500 lbs, whereas the xB is not rated to tow at all.

I know I have exceeded the xB's max load between me, family, friends and stereo.
