wiring help!!!!!
 

so i tried wiring up a set of strobe lights i purchased from autozone today when i held the leads to the battery the lights flashed but when i held them to the leads on the terminals on the fuse box they did not work...

do i have to buy an extra fuse to power the fuse box terminals or flip a swicth or something

did you....
#1 make sure that when you connected the wires to the fuse box leads, that the key was turned to the acc position to power the leads on the fuse box?
#2 make sure that the leads you tapped on the fuse box were a constant power source - getting 12v+ straight from the battery with the key off?
if you use an empty fuse location in the fuse box, always get a fuse rated for the device you intend to wire up to it... then try your test again.. :)

shouldent the positive negative lead have a constant 12v or do i need to add a fuse to even get thoes leads to turn on

i dont believe you have to have a fuse but if you connect it to a constant lead you have to have a switch in order to turn it on/off.
if you do it to one which is switchable, you;d have to turn on that device to start getting power. ie- i have my footwell lights to the running lights so they only turn on when i click the headlight knob thing

I will always take a positive lead and put a fuse on it and then go into the switch. That way if there is ever a short. The power wire you are using is covered and dont have to worry about stuff melting down.

i got that lol
i talked to a scion tech at my local dealer and he said that there shooudlent even be power to thoes terminals and to just either wire to the battery or splice another wire on the inside of the car.
