Default Delrin/Nylatron suspension bushings

As I mentioned in the sway bar thread, I'd start a thread on my progress to manufacture my own bushings.

So far I have a bone yard trying to locate a front lower control arm to take measurements and make some mock ups. At first look at mine, it appears the front would be a cake walk. The rear is going to take some thought! The Delrin/Nylatron at first glance appears to be too hard a material since the bushing is placed horizontal. My concern is breaking something. Perhaps a hemispherical bearing would be the ticket. Not sure just yet.

The rear end is going to get fitted on my own car. To purchase a wrecked rear member is way too expensive but it appears to be a very simple manufacture and moderate effort swap.

I plan on using Nylatron vice Delrin for one reason. The Nylatron can be purchased in blanks impregnated with particles of Moly-B grease to reduce squeeks and groans.

For the rear axle, I feel the only way to go would be a spherical bearing. You could machine press-fit bearing cups pretty easily.
Front control arms may be easy, but the rear mount I think would require another spherical bearing. If you're going to go through all this trouble, why not make a full tube front LCA?

Great idea on the spherical bearing in the rear X! My concern would be the ride quality with a metal on metal situation. Perhaps for a full on racer it would be of no big concern. I'll check into some bearings that might have a bit of give.

Designing a tube LCA is way above my skill level. I'm not a scientist or engineer, just an airplane mechanic. I do agree the rear mount on the front lca will be a challenge. I do have a friend who molds in poly so I may hit him up for a mockup.

I'm making a bit of progress but the front LCA's (rear mount) are frankly kicking the !@#$ out of me! I have material on the way for the front mount of the LCA and the rear end. Still a couple weeks away from coming up with a solution for the front rear mount.

Even if the rear mount was poly, I don't think it would suffice. In my opinion, spherical bearing would be the only way to go. It would transmit more sound to the cabin, but it would be a great long-term part.

Default Noone makes these

I have been searching for some aftermarket front lower control arm bushings but have not seen any for this Gen XB. I am pretty sure i need a new set (@108k), since i am getting sway at highway speed, and if i jack the front end up - i can see lateral movement at this point when i attempt to move the passenger size front hub. If anyone gets a fix on where i can get a poly bushing set that will fit a Gen 2 XB, It would be much appreciated. Also, let me know if you are having the same issue - this could be a common one once more people start getting up to around 100k.

I'm borrowing a 2008 xb and am having the same issues at highway speeds. she is around 130k and I don't know how long this has been going on. I took it to a mechanic to look for an issue with a bar or alignment, but they couldn't find anything. perhaps the bushings are the culprit.
