Default Tein Coilovers vs. Ksport coilovers in ride quality

Okay, so I am finally getting close to purchasing some coilovers. From all the threads I have read I am deciding between these two brands. I know the Ksports will come with pillow ball mounts and Teins uses the factory upper mounts in the front. My main concern is ride smoothness. I have had a couple lowered/ sports cars with pretty stiff rides. Since on occasion I have my family riding in my Xb I want to keep that smooth ride. I did notice that the Ksports spring rates are 7.5 kg/ front and 4.5/kg rear, while the Tein spring rates are 5 kg/ front and 4.9/ rear. Does the dampening adjustability that the Ksports offer to help smooth the ride, really make a difference to choose between these two companies over price vs. reliability? Cause I have read how many people feel Ksports are inexpensive yet comes with risks of quality.

Stay away from Ksports end of story. They are horribly made. Everyone I ever came across on my last platform went bad right after the warrenty went bad. Go figure. STAY AWAY

I had tein ssp with pillow ball mounts and EDFC in my first gen xb. the ride was GREAT!

I've seen a lot of issues over the years where ksport coilovers rusted through and shattered, or where the camber adjustment plate broke, not impressed at all wtih them.

I heard the cusco are but there more exspensive. But when I say better I wouldn't see them being much better. Maybe paying for name? I am not sure let someone more EXP with our platform explain better

I have ksport and they seem very strong, I just dont like the ride of them, too stiff. If you want them, Im taking them off the car this week. only 1k miles on them 2 months old, bought brand new. Im looking for $600 plus shipping if you're interested.

Where are you located Phobic? Maybe I can go for that price... Let me know if no one here wants them.

If you are looking for ride quality I would go with an Eibach spring and shock kit Seems like all of the coilovers, whatever brand, are harsh for street driving.

Coilovers don't mean bad ride quality. Stiff/high spring rates don't mean bad ride quality. The only reason most coilovers have bad ride quality is because the valving sucks. KSport isn't really that good yet, and D2 Racing is the SAME THING as KSport, so there will be no difference between the two. Tein is considered entry level in Japan, and their valving is "okay" at best, but better than KSport/D2. The only good coilover set (when it comes to ride quality) we have it seems is the Cusco Racing ones, but I'm sure you'll enjoy Tein more than KSport/D2.

not to be off topic but... has any one here ever noticed how similar the suspension on the xB is to the yaris. I resently put megan coilovers on my 07 yaris and I could have swarn they look dam near the same as the tein kit for the gen2...

Whether they look similar or the same doesn't matter, as I'm sure that any difference in weight/weight balance and spring rates of the coilovers will throw off the valving of the dampers.
