Default Black on Black xB

Hi all... I am new here, and have been learning a lot about what I want in my first xB... I actually had an order in for a NBM and switched to BSP after seeing one with black wheels here in Tulsa and really diggin' it.

Anyway, I have been looking at these black wheels:

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand

They are 17x8s with a 40mm offset. Recommended tire size is 215/45-17, and they weigh 17.5 lbs... I know ABSOLUTELY nothing about wheel fitting, etc. And wanted to gather any advice possible. Has anyone put these on their xB? Also, any advice on fit--will this size and the 40mm offset fit well and will it look ok?

Does anyone have any experience with these specific wheels and reviews on their quality? For the price, I would expect them to be good...

As for tires, tire rack reviews have led me to think the best option is the: Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position Tires w UNI-T AQ II, they are found here:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....+Pole+Position

I hope the links work, I'm not very good at this stuff. I would love to hear any advice that can be offered on the wheels and tires!

Those are great wheels but I think 17's will look tiny on a xB2... and the thin spokes only make them seem more out-of-scale. A 18" that looks more beefy would be better (will be heavier tho unfortunately...)

I was concerned about the thin spokes as well... I have also been looking at the Black Konig Feather wheels, but they are only 8 spoke and I thought they would look dinky too... I would prefer 17s to keep a bit of a better ride and because of tire costs, but I'm open to 18s if I find the right wheels.

Do you have any all black wheels you'd recommend? I like the Tenzo R Mach10s and the Motegi SP10s (both 10 spoke), but the problem with the Tenzo's is that I don't like the red pinstripe. And, as far as I know, the Motegi's are "hyper black," not true black.

My hopes are for some flat black wheels. Any help?

Do you have lowering springs yet. If not, get the Tanabe NF210's; they ride far better than stock, as well as giving better handling.
I didn't plan on getting 18's until I put these springs on, now I can't wait for my tax rebate.

Check these wheels out:

Konig Runaway Shadow Black: Black with black on the interior of the wheel also.

Motegi SP10 (Matte Black): Matte Black, not Hyper-Black, but has brushed aluminum interior behind spokes (not all black).

I recommend the Runaways in Shadow Black.

225/40-18 tires are a very popular size, available at a reasonable price, and almost the same overall diameter as stock tires.

Thanks Cionide, you've been helping a bunch! I don't even have my xB yet, but should in 2 weeks or so, as it is on order... Just doing my research now!

Very good information you gave. I'm not a huge fan of the lip on the Runaways, but would love to see it on the xB, as the pictures I've seen may not give them a fair chance. Why do you recommend these?

I love the Motegi's, and saw that some sites said "matte black," but I think Motegi's site only shows the SP10s at hyper black...? Am I wrong?

Thanks again, I really appreciate your help!

I probably should have said that I "prefer" the Runaways.
I don't like the way the Motegi's are black on the spokes and lip,
then look simply machined (silver) behind the spokes on the inside of the wheels.
I could be wrong and the picture could be playing tricks with me, but that's how it looks.

If you can, you need to find a dealer in your area and go see them in person.
There is no substitute for actually seeing the real thing.

BTW, Motegi's site has the SP10 in both Hyper Black and Matte Black:

Whoa, yes, it does look like it's machined behind the spokes. Thanks for pointing it out! I will look for a dealer here, that is great advice!

I think I've decided on the Motegi SP10s... I found some better pics and when I see them in person I'll decide if I need to paint them. They're a +40 offset, should be fine right? Also, the silver on the inside, I was told, is actually hyper black--even on the matte black wheels. I wonder if brake dust will hide the silver very quickly?!

+40 offset will work great, and those wheels are super lightweight.

Don't rely on brake dust, it's not a good thing to let build up. Just look at the wheels in person, and decide if you like them.

It's cool that Motegi has a selection of lightweight wheels now, but overall their designs are a bit dated looking... check out the new Enkeis, some nice 18's just came out for 08.

Thanks again for all your help Cionide! Can't wait to get my xB! The bottom Enkeis are nice, but I'm not a fan of the glossy black... Or the deep dish, personally...

The deep lips are a function of offset and overall wheel width; a 7" or 8" wide wheel with +40 offset would not have that deep of a lip.

For me personally, the deal breaker is all those silver screws/bolts... real or fake, I don't like that look.
Like I said though, that's my personal opinion, and what really matters is what you like.
