Final fitting
 

So I decided on the XXR 522's but the only thing now is the sizing. The car is a daily driver. I'm not really worrying about gas milage since my job is only 5mins away from home. It's going on a 2010 rs7.

It's either 19 x 8.5 +38 or 18 x 8.5 +38. What the ups and downs. What tire sizes should I get for no rubbing.

Did you mean 18x8.5 +48, or 18x9.5 +38?
The 18x8.5 size doesn't come in +38 offset.

18x8.5 +48 will sit back from dead flush about 3/8" up front. (235/40-18 tires)
18x9.5 +38 will poke out about 1/2" past the edge of the front fenders. (Not recommended by me)
19x8.5 +38 will sit dead flush up front. (225/35-19 tires)
Rears are all in about 1/2" more than fronts, and would need spacers to match the fronts for flush.

Thanks for the correction Cionide. I had to take a another look at what I typed up. But yupp looks like the 19 x 8.5 +38 is what I'm going to go for. What you think? What do you think of the company? As you can tell I'm not really into
making a show car but a nice daily driving one.

I like the look of 19's, but my DD is 75+ miles so I wanted the comfort of a little more sidewall height. XXR is a relatively popular company for wheels in that price range, and if you've seen any pics of my ride, then you know I like the 7-spoke style. :icon_biggrin:

Where are you planning on buying them, and what color/finish?

NLmotoring is the cheapest I've found them. Only $131 each is the best I've seen. My wife likes the Chromium Black. Which I think looks good with murasaki rs7.

I noticed your from napa. I'm from the bay area. Do you go to any of the big Scion meets around here or car shows?

I'm glad you said both NLmotoring, and Chromium Black, I agree with both. Just be aware that you might have a short wait from NL, according to their website they are currently out-of-stock on the size & finish you want.

Nope, never been to a meet-n-greet, or car show. Most of them aren't near me, or happen at bad times for me.

What size spacer would I need? Is there a specific brand I should get? I've heard horror stories about people using cheap spacers.

rexB is running 18x8.5 +40 with 10mm rear spacers (which is what I would recommend for you also). Your wheels would be pushed out 2mm more (less than 1/10") and obviously have a 1" larger wheel diameter. On TRD springs, your rear-end will sit about 1/2" higher than his, and the front will be about the same.

I'm a fan of Ichiba hub-centric spacers, but I know there are other quality brands as well.

That RexB's ride is a beauty. That's pretty much huw flush I want it. The main difference is I am going to put 19's. Do my TRD springs make my car lower then his or is his lower then mine? If mine is lower then I might just get his set-up since it's exactly what I want but just different style wheels.

Any idea if the XXR 522 with a +38 offset have a nice lip on it? It should have a little more then RexBs right since it is a +38?

The drop on TRD vs. Tein H-Tech:
TRD = 1.0"F/1.5"R
H-Tech = 1.1"R/2.1"R
his is a hair lower up front, and a hair +1/2" lower out back.

Lip size has nothing to do with offset, that's all about wheel design. The offset only establishes how far away from the hub that the face of the outer wheel lip will lie.

So with 19" it should look pretty close to RexBa ride right? Spacing and all and with the right tire size it should sit nice.

About the lip, I get it I think I got my terminology all mixed up. I just want to
make sure that the spokes aren't sitting further out then the lip of the wheels. Most of the pictures I've seen of the wheel has an offset where the spokes sit out further then the lip of the wheel. Please correct me if I'm sounding stupid

It'll sit nice, and look great. As far as I can tell, the spokes look like they sit about even with the lips at the outer most point, but I've never seen 'em in person. Just stay away from parallel parking next to curbs, and you've got nothing to worry about. :roll:

in a 18 x 8.5 +30. So will those fit right?

18x8.5 +30 will poke out past the front fenders about 3/8", and be almost dead flush in the rear. You could do it, but you'd have to run stretched tires (215/40-18) so that you don't rub when you lower it. Personally, I'm not a big fan of that, but the decision is yours. If you want to drop down from 19's to 18's, you could go with the 18x8.5 +48 and 235/40-18 tires as an alternative.

If you're talking about the 18x8.5 +48 wheels and 235/40-18 tires, then no the face of the wheel lips won't be flush. The front wheel lips will sit back 3/8" from dead flush, and the rear would be about 7/8" back (which you could always use spacers to match the front).

So it's pretty much the XXR 522 19 x 8.5 +38 or another rim that is 18 x 8.5 +38 if I want to go the 18" route. this is tougher then it seems.
