Need regular, decent tires.
 

So, just looking to get a decent set of tires for my stock Scion XB 2012.

I don't need anything fancy, but don't want to pay for garbage either. Dealership recommends the Goodyear Eagle LS or Goodyear Eagle RS-A. Decently priced, but figured you guys might have a better answer...

Hankook Ventus V12's. Best frickin daily tire out there, and a dammn good price too... dammn good.

Thanks for the advice so far guys. I really don't want to shop online for tires, would prefer to go to a shop and get them.

If you want to pay through the nose, go to a shop. If you want a good tire sent to your door, go to TireRack.com and get the Ventus V12's. You put in your year make and model vehicle so you know they fit. The price is unbeatable, and quality is like none other. As far as Goodyears, I'd maybe get slicks for the track, but definitely not a daily driver. And even with the track, I'd get Hoosiers.

That's the stock xB2 tire size?? Dang. Yeah V12's aren't in that size. Get any Hankook though, I'm telling you, you will happy with quality, duration, and wallet.

It also depends on what you're trying to do. I picked up some Toyo Proxes4s a few years back. Didn't last long at all and I was extremely disappointed.

My father has always been a big Michelin fan. If you want high treadwear, opt for Michelin or Continental.

I have had a set of Falkens on my 2005 xB1 for more than 60,000 miles. I still have about 3/32" in the front & 4/32" in the rear. My next set will also be Falkens. I love em'!

I've kept Michelins on the 2009 Scion XB at work since we replaced the factory tires. This car has over 415,000 miles on it (my boss drives all over the southeast) and the last set of Michelin Defenders got around 120,000 miles with tire rotations every 10,000 miles and balanced only when he had a flat. I've also kept Michelins on the two GMC trucks at work and have gotten around 120k highways miles out of each set. I know they're a little pricey up front, but the ride quality and longevity is EXCELLENT!

I'd actually like to see a picture of the odometer on that 415k xb that's insane

My boss man has been pretty hard on this car, but it's still running the original engine, which has never had the valve cover or oil pan off. I've changed the oil every 10k miles with Mobile 1. The automatic transmission has been rebuilt once so far. The ignition coils were changed under warranty. I've changed the spark plugs once. Replaced the serpentine belt, alternator, water pump, and belt tensioner once so far. I replaced the blower for the A/C system, and the blower speed control switch also got changed recently. It's running the original struts, which still ride great. All in all, I have been thoroughly impressed with this car. That's why I bought mine with less than 50k miles last Monday!

As for making the tires last, like I posted previously, I rotate the tires every 10k miles when I change the oil. I also check the air pressure every week on all the company vehicles. I keep the tires on the xB at 35 psi front and back to help offset the weight of the equipment that he hauls around (Little Giant ladder, tools, extra clothes, etc.):

I know it's a little off-topic, but I'm proud of the miles we've gotten out of our company vehicles since I started working there 13 years ago. I've taken a 2001 Dodge Ram and maintained it to 400,000 miles before we sold it. The 2002 GMC Sierra has just over 500,000 miles and our 2004 GMC Sierra has 589,xxx miles right now. All of these vehicles have made it this far with their original engines intact. The Dodge was burning oil pretty bad when we sold it. The GMC's use around 2 courts of oil between oil changes at 8,000 mile intervals, and the boss's Scion uses 1-2 quarts between oil changes at 10,000 mile intervals. K&N filters in all of them have saved us money in gas mileage and not buying replacement filters. I just hope my new '09 xB does as well as my boss's. It's my personal vehicle and won't see nearly the highway miles that his does.

I have Michelin Defenders on my 2012, the ride is good, the life as expected, I have about 90,000 on them now and getting close to replacement. But the NOISE. WOW they are NOISEY. I am looking for something better, was considering the AS SPORT, but the mileage rating is not as good. Tirerack.com recommends the Defender. I spend a lot of time in this car and it wold be nice to be able to listen to the radio, but frequently is hard, depending on the road surface.
