SIZE MATTERS

RS7 with TRD drop. I am getting 18 x 8 +40 rims, and I want to run 235 40's, but most seem to use 225 40's. Can I use the 235 40's without rubbing or spacers?

I am hoping that stock wheel studs are long enough to not need changing to extended studs.

TPMS will transfer to any new wheels, right?

Also, are there any good sets of locking tuner lugs? My other xB uses Gorilla locks and no tire stores have ever needed my "key", they seem to all have one, which does not seem too safe. TIA, DWB

You'll be fine and don't need extended studs.

"Locking" lugs don't really lock since everyone has a key. If someone wants your wheels, they WILL get them. I haven't seen a single lug nut that couldn't be removed sans key.

Thanks alot XSVX. I just have to choose the tires I want to complete the buy. When I bought the tires/wheels for our other xB, the shop installed them with just a couple of threads engaged. Then it stated breaking off studs, lesson learned. I really would like to make it harder for theives to take my stuff.

Yoyonogood asked about some really close specs to the tire/wheel setup I just inquired about! Do you think I might get some tire rub in front on some turns? This is my wifes daily driver and I have to answer for each and every noise or problem!

If she drives it hard, then it may rub. If she doesn't drive hard, which I doubt she does, then you should be perfectly fine.

Not sure this helps your specifics BUT, I just jumped from a 225/45/17 to a 225/55 sidewall. It definitely filled up the front wheel well...............but no rubbing.
And the ride is soooo much smoother. Downright plush in comparison. But the benefit I was MOST looking to accomplish: cut the engine RPMs. Mission accomplished!
