What is the actual complete size of the tires, and the wheel diameter?

205/55-16 tires can be stretched onto 8" wide wheels, but 16x8 with 0 offset wheels will put the outer wheel lips about 1.25" past the edge of the front fenders. Even with the stretched tires you should expect rubbing if you're lowered.

cionide thanks so much man you really helped me out!!! I kinda like the look of not sitting flush with fenders only in inch is not too terrible i'll just have to keep it in mind and watch out for curbs. I have no drop yet so that wont be and issue at this point
thanks again!!!

I'm guessing XXR 512's.

Are you looking at the 0 offset 16x8's just so you can use the OEM tires?

IMO, the 17x8's would look better, and their +15 offset would fit better.

I think 17's would look better too. I have a set of brand new tires just sitting in my garage so i figured i could put on a set of 16" rims, and have the OEM for winter use. It wouldnt be possible to use the same tires on 17's would it???

No, 16" wheels need 16" tires, and 17" wheels need 17" tires.
That's not what is meant by "stretching" your tires.

You could also sell the new set of 16" tires you have, and move up to 17's for the good weather set-up.

cionide, i didnt think it was possible, im stuck for what to do now i know 17" would look better in that style rim, its just wondering if its worth selling the tires, buyin the 17's then buyin rubber or just get the 16's. the thing i like about the xxr 002 is the lip any other ideas in a 16 that i could look into?

mike they look awesome what drop is it? and any straight on side pics?? im really trying to see how they look

My guess was that you were looking at the 512's, which is why I introduced the possibility of 17's to the mix.

As far as I've seen, the 002's only come in 15's and 16's, which makes 17's a non-option. If that's the case, then the decision is already made for you.

I do beleive you are correct sir! i have not seen 17's in that syle, but then again i have been looking at 16's for the last 3 weeks not paying attention to many other sizes. My mind is made up tho i am going to get them hopefully by the end of the week and get them on asap, as far as stretching the tires it shouldnt be hard right? i mean only one inch and on the mounting machine they will slide right on??

I've never installed tires on wheels myself, but 205's on an 8" wide wheel is not that much of a stretch so I don't think is should be an issue. Just to make sure, you might call the place where you plan on having the mounting & balancing done.

im on air and thats full drop. ive mounted tires before and putting a 205/55 on a 8 is not going to be hard. ive never done it but the concept remains the same. once you get the bead to mount on one side of the tire, all it takes is some patience with the air to get the other side to seal. once sealed the bead will pop into place and bingo. the tall sidewall makes it easy to "stretch". this isnt a wild stretch that takes work to make the bead seal. 205/55 will only be a little harder to mount onto a 8 than a "regular" sized tire would be on a 8.

side shot.

that looks awesome mike! i think the tires give it a really different look that you dont see too often with everthing around being lo pro and crazy stretched. i think i will def. need to lower the car after i get these rims on to make it look more agressive. but long story short props mike its lookin tight! do either of you guys know what kinda of lug nuts im going to need??!

The thread pitch of the studs is 12x1.5 and most after market wheels for FWD cars require conical tuner lugs, but a quick call to XXR will give the definitive answer:

Call some local auto parts stores and ask. I wanted black spline drive tuner lugs, which my local America's Tire Co. (Discount Tire Direct) ordered for me when they ordered the wheels.

last time i checked a 205mm tire is 8.1" dont see where you would have to stretch at all... a 195mm tire is 7.6 and even that is not that much of a stretch on a 8" wheel.
