Weight of stock steel rim?
Just wondering how much the stock steel rims weight? Would I benefit in mpg from getting lighter rim? Maybe some folks or cheaper alternative that are lighter than the stock steel rims. I don't wanna get bigger rims, just same specs as stock. Any suggestions?
Our OEM 16x6.5 +45 steelies are about 21#. If you go to www.tirerack.com you can filter by 16" and sort by weight. There are plenty of 16x7 wheels under 18#. Enkei RPF1's are less than 14# and on sale right now for $207 each.
I don't think u would see a big increase in mileage, but every little bit in car weight reduction can help, including the driver losing some weight if needed LOL. Mostly it just your driving habits + routes that u drive. With the present gas prices, I now find myself trying not braking as much or excelerating fast + now try to coast to a stop or around a city corner or when exiting to a hwy ramp
. I also try to leave early for a destination, so I can drive slower like grandma in the right lane. LOL
Good luck.....
