2 questions: HID's and tinting headlamps

1. Anyone know a good website/source for HID's for our cars? obviously, the
more reliable, issue-free the better. I don't care for anything higher than 4300k color-wise, as a matter of fact my ideal would be a slight yellow. I want to weigh if this would be a better investment than just Sylvania Xtravision bulbs, etc. thoughts?

2. anyone here have their headlamps "slightly" tinted? i think that would look good with my black xd. post pics of you have any.

i had a hell of a time with cheapo HIDs (my first time and i learn the hard way ;P).

i ended up tossing them, and going for the sylvanias. definitely brighter then stock. they do the job well and since you arent going for the color too then they would be the easier option. they are a little more white than stocks though. not sure how much yellow you want.

1. Quality kits, with the extra money!! Have any questions just call them.

2. Seen some nice "light" tints on the headlights and it looked very nice!

i've only used onex hids, 8k and 10k. i can't really comment because i don't know what "really good" hid kits are like. i bought mine with the lifetime ballast warranty. mine are a standard, single beam, no high beam, and 35w. i never used a 55w but i assume it's brighter.

The best headlight setups are OEM all the way.
Denso & Matsu$hita are a few 35W OEM ballast, startup time is 3-4 seconds to full intensity.
Philips & Osram for OEM HID bulbs. D2S, D4S,...etc

Aftermarket Bulbs and Ballast (KITS)
Re-based H11, 9006, and others, I would choose Morimoto bulbs, alignment is better then any $15 set of bulbs no matter where you by them from....

Those lights look awesome! If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the fog lights?

xdrajicialxd 12-01-2011 09:34 PM

Their from TRDsparks.com and they're oem fit. You just have to take the wheels off and pop the old covers out, then instal the switch next to the steering wheel and run the wiring. The diagram is included with the lights. I just replaced the stock bulbs with 8000k h9 HID's

I have the ones from hidextra.com in the wifes Gen2 xB and they are great...Plug and play and the quality so far has been excellent...

I need to make the jump to HIDs soon. I can't see crap at night with the bulbs that are in there now.

DigitalPro 12-02-2011 06:16 PM

HID are a good choice for better lighting, just stay on the lower K range (more light) if you use to halogens, higher K bulbs (less light) with stock projectors will glare into oncoming drivers.
