3rd gear Question?
 

So in my 2012 xD " D " is overdrive and 3rd is regular driving?

No just leave it D as that is for regular driving. Under normal conditions these cars will shift to 4th even with running around in town. Limiting it to 3rd gear does nothing but burn gas and and increase wear on the power train.
