Okay, I'll see what others say...cause Kragen is selling the red/stainless steal Spectra filter but it says it fits 3"/3.5"/4" so I'm guessing that would work?

Yeah, how they make that work, is they have little plastic, i guess plastic i would call them, inserts that change the size of it.
So it is not that i stretches that much, just has inserts to make it fit.

Okay. Thanks. Maybe I'll go to Kragen tomorrow and check it out and if anything I can return it if it doesn't fit.

Well even though the Spectre filter comes from your local Autozone, etc.... they do make a good product that comes with a 10 yr warranty.... It was cheaper than replacing my original filter for my Injen CAI. Perfect fit...and have been running it for almost year with regular cleanings... great filter for the buck.

Yep, that's the exact same filter I used on my 'D - the insert to make it 3 1/2" fits like a champ! Mine's been in my car since July 08 and sounds great...

I was weary of replacing my Injen OEM filter with the Spectre but I have to say... I've been impressed with the quality and the fact that I paid half of what Injen wanted for a new replacement filter.

btw, I need to clean my Spectre filter, but I don't have the instructions for it anymore, anyone have the steps to clean it? what to wash it with and what kind of oil to put on - this one needs to be oiled again right? It's not a dry filter, if I recall... heck, for the price, maybe I'll just put a new one in so it's nice and clean looking for this season's car shows...

yea 3" wont fit .. mines is 3" made a small cut enough to get it through. clamped it and had no problems.. 3.5" should do the trick if ur uncomfortable with that route.

The 3.5" fits perfect. I went to Kragen and bought the red Spectre 8132 filter yesterday and installed it last night. I'll post up pictures later on today.

Glad I found this...Save some money over a full intake that doesn't do a thing...

umm... these care are not like an xb... an intake does add power with the addition to a full catback you can feel a noticible difference.... only thing we are missing would be a header..... let me try and find the dyno sheet i got when i installed my intake.. it was something like 6 or 7 hp and 8 ft of torque...... been like a year or so.... : /

i did this today.. and the sound difference is phenomenol.. sounds like the xD grew some *****.. when going FOT you can hear the whoosh of the engine sucking in that air.

some of you guys shoulda measured the intake before assuming you need a 3" opening. Rage and I are using the same stuff. I heard a lot of different HP rating with a filter. I would still like a little downturn on the pipe so I don't funnel water into the pipe. but it's nice to be able to hear what the engine is doing now. I'd say a lighter flywheel and a decent flowing exhaust along with a good clutch and lighter pulleys could make for a very responsive engine.

ok go and get a 22 degree bend pipe and a vacume line kit with some extra vacume line and a 3" to 2.5" coupler and a 3 inch red conecter piece then go home rip out the stock MAF piece conect it to the 3" conecter and the airs cone then the 22 bend to the 3" conecter and then the 3"-2.5" to the intake manifold
