1NZ-FE engine onto the xd. yea its abit of a downgrade but aftermarket support is great. any thoughts? is it plausible?

i think youd have better luck retrofitting a supercharger onto the current motor.

It would be considered a downgrade yes, but again, the aftermarket is larger for it rather than the 1.8, but parts are slowly coming up for it.

If you were to do the swap though, there should not be so many hard complications as we share the same chassis and from the looks of it, seems that the engine bay is pretty much identical minus the motor itself.

Ever thought about the 2ZZ swap? There's a lot of aftermarket for that as well. Only problem with the Yaris liftback is the clearing the firewall for a turbo application. I know of one Yaris in Puerto Rico that has done the swap and some work, but it's in the sedan where the engine bay is a bit larger.

exacly. I dont mind a small downgrade if it means endless amount of aftermarket support for it. and I have been noticing same chassis so I cant really think of any compications other then maybe engine mounts.
But yes there is a xd with a 2zz swap but he said its too complicated and by the looks of it. I take his word for it lol

Have you looked into anything for the 1.8? If not directly for the xD, try looking for parts for the Yaris TS which is in Europe, but has the same exact motor.

Only thing I can think of off the top of my head is the Crank pulley by Non Stop Tuning for the 1.8 that you can purchase from Micro Image ... http://shop.microimageonline.com/pro...3&categoryId=2

Can you explain to me why you want to down grade our motor? After you figure the cost you may as well buy the car the engine came out of...

Your looking at motor mounts... new cpu... then the parts to modify the engine...

Honestly I would just sit tight and see who produces what... Otherwise I know for about 2k down PTuning will start R&D on a turbo for our xDs...

just my 2cents...

1nz will fit with little problems. 4wd models also run 1.5 in japan. yaris ts has backfired for aftermarket support. only mod available from europe is a 10g turbo kit i think. i cant really justify swapping to a weaker engine for more mods tho.

wow...just wow...okay, lets presume that you do go through all this time and money to swap a smaller weaker older engine into your xD and get it running so that you have more aftermarket support. it isn't like the 1NZ-FE has a beast inside waiting to be unleashed. just look at some of the dyno numbers they put down with turbos and nitrous. what is blownxa up to? like 160 whp? with turbo and nitrous. not saying he hasn't done a great job, but the xD dyno's 120 whp stock. so you want to go through all the trouble of an engine swap for aftermarket support, so after that, you need to turbo the engine and net a gain of...40 whp? and people said the trd supercharger was a waste of money, atleast it had a warranty.

the xD's engine has more potential than the 1NZ-FE, it has dual vvt-i, it has larger displacement. the problem is that it is a new engine, and witht he global economic recession, there just simply isn't alot of money in the r&d budgets of companys to make parts for a car like the xD yet. but don't worry, there will be some coming. but in the meantime, please resist the urge to downgrade your xd.

160whp on a 1NZ? What turbo setup did he do? Garm at Micro Image (don't know his user name exactlye on here) did more than that on stock internals withouth tuning (183whp) and after tuning, he did close to if not then 200. Zefoxe can vouch on that one.

It's really depends on what he wants to do. Not everyone is HP crazy, lol. If it's about the larger engine and you want a swap with aftermarket support or even better, ready for turbo, I'd also look at MonkeyWrenchRacing.com and see what they have to say.

Ok this is wrong!!

Yaris owners are looking into the 2ZR swap... NOT xD owners looking into 1NZ swap...

Just think about it? How much would it cost you a 1NZ swap? probably around $1.5k

Then what??? The only bolt on upgrade available is the Blitz supercharger... for $3,200 you will get the 1NZ up to around 120whp...

.... yeah... that's right where you started...!

Why not just get that money and do your own turbo kit and get 180whp easy and safely?

For some one willing to attempt an engine swap, a custom turbo kit should not be that much of a problem!
