NST Announces new pulley linup for the Scion xD!!!

And you can bet your rear they will be on my personal xD as well. NST makes stellar products and I have personally used them for years on my race motors & daily drivers. Great addition to any engine bay!

NST is proud to announce new pulleys for the Toyota 1.8liter 2ZRFE found in the Toyota Yaris TS, Toyota Corolla, and Scion xD.

The new NST kit includes two lightweight pulleys; Underdrive Crank Pulley, and Overdrive Alternator Pulley. This kit will provide roughly 75% weight reduction over the OEM pulleys, and will slow the accessories slightly, EXCEPT THE ALTERNATOR, to provide a noticeable improvement in throttle response, horsepower, and torque delivery.

The NST kit also provides better fuel economy when driving habits and conditions are not drastically changed. Gains of 1 to 2 mpg are typical.

All NST kits are designed and developed in the USA and are hard anodized aluminum, the strongest in the industry. This particular kit is slated for a January 2009 release, and more info will be provided on www.NonStopTuning.com as production continues.

Yeap!!! I just receive the news from Mike!!

Finally...

I can also speak for NST products... they rock!

Richard did a testing on the 1.5L Yaris last week. Back to back dyno testing with the pulleys.

3 solid whp increase all across the power band...! That plus the increase in throttle response...!

The pulleys in the 2ZF-FE are larger and heavier than the ones in the Yaris. I would not be surprised that the gains in our cars are even better.

I'm waiting for my set already!

Thanks NST!!

Installation should be breeze providing that you have access to some air tools. You will probably need an impact wrench to set loose the bolt on the crank.

Can't wait !!!

Zefoxe 11-23-2008 05:09 AM

Were you guys able to get anything off the dyno?

pickledchang 11-25-2008 07:50 PM

Mike, do you have any more info on the installation? it looks like the alternator will need to be taken off, and the crank will be accessed from the right wheel well, but the water pump looks like it will be rough... is install decently easy with air tools?

Garage1217 11-25-2008 09:46 PM

More information to come very soon!

saw54 11-26-2008 04:55 AM

any idea on price?

Zefoxe 11-26-2008 05:02 AM

Also I'm a little concern on its effect on the windshield whipers as they can be a little slow as it is during hard rain, i hope it doesn't effect them too much in slowing down.

Garage1217 11-26-2008 05:38 AM

Sorry no underdrive pulleys on the wipers :) Even if the alt was underdriven, which it is not, it still would not change anything at all as an alternator is not RPM dependent "to a point". They have built in regulators for a reason :) Still will be putting out 13.8 as long as it is spinning about around 400-500rpm - redline.

You will not experience any negative effects what-so-ever. You have absolutely nothing to worry about.

The tC guys have been using our Underdrive Kit since early 2005, not one person has ever complained about accessory output, ever! Search in the tC section of the forums.

The Toyota Yaris guys have also been using our Underdrive Kits for the past couple years. Again, ZERO complaints. Search on YarisWorld.com for hundreds of customer reviews.

Ok, just making sure because our wiper speed sucks as it is :P Looking forward to the part.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Garage1217 12-01-2008 08:04 PM

Hey guys, installed my pre-production pulley and install was a breeze! Everything was spot on. Made a couple hundred mile trip over turkey day and it seems my MPG definitely increased! With 2 adults, 3 kids and a load of educational books for the kids in the back of the car, I managed 34.5mpg! Not to shabby. More testing to come on my normal route to work and back.

Things that stood out immediately.
- Car revs much more freely
- 1st gear & a little in 2nd gear pull harder
- No issue with anything at all including ac

All in all a WIN for the product. Here is a quick how to guide... With the right tools you can install this bad boy in about 25 minutes.

Jack up the car & place jack stands under the car for safety
http://www.garage1217.com/SCIONXD/PULLEY/PULLEY2/1.jpg

Next, take off the rim or hubcaps, whatever you have....
http://www.garage1217.com/SCIONXD/PULLEY/PULLEY2/2.jpg

Remove the two 10mm bolts holding on the inner plastic fender cover and pull it aside
http://www.garage1217.com/SCIONXD/PULLEY/PULLEY2/3.jpg

Loosen the tension on the belt. The XD has a mechanical tensioner system.
http://www.garage1217.com/SCIONXD/PULLEY/PULLEY2/4.jpg

Wait for rain to stop.... DOH!!!!!
http://www.garage1217.com/SCIONXD/PULLEY/PULLEY2/6.jpg

Next, remove the crank pulley bolt. It is a 19mm. I recommend an impact gun in this case which makes it a snap. I was lucky and my pulley just slid right off.
http://www.garage1217.com/SCIONXD/PULLEY/PULLEY2/7.jpg

Have a gear puller set on hand in case the pulley does not just slide off... which it most likley will not "I was lucky"
http://www.garage1217.com/SCIONXD/PULLEY/PULLEY2/8.jpg

Put new pulley in place. Chances are it will not just slide on as NST pulleys are TIGHT tolerance. Make sure the keyway is lined up with the key inside the pulley.
http://www.garage1217.com/SCIONXD/PULLEY/PULLEY2/9.jpg

Tighten the crank bolt by hand with a socket wrench which will draw the pulley over the shaft and in place. The torque to spec... I did not have the proper torque spec with me so I used the German "goodntight" method.
http://www.garage1217.com/SCIONXD/PULLEY/PULLEY2/10.jpg

Last, slap the belt back on & re-tension it. Take her for a test drive and SMILE!

Great product guys. I highly recommend it!
