The Beeping is driving me ~ NUTS!

WHY would they design a car that made the "door open" beeping noise when the ignition is in "accessory" position?

How am I supposed to listen to the radio while I'm working in the driveway or loading or unloading the car?

It makes NO sense.

Does anyone know how I can disable the beeping?

turn the key one click farther then the beeping goes away after a few seconds

Yes, and that puts your car in to "ON" mode. Smart.

Why not roll your windows down? I do that and just shut my door. Not sure if the dealer would disable the beeping since its meant to be there for safety reasons (ie. keys in ignition, don't walk away).

Could always try to go to the dealer and see if they'll disable it, or rip in to the car and kill the lil beeper >:]

OK, that worked, but then my ignition is on.

I think all of my cars have always beeped with the door open and they key in the accessory position.

Or you could use an external music source. ie: boombox, computer, etc.

Every car I've ever owned has emited the"door open" ding when the key is in the accessory position and the door is opened.

On older cars, this was just a small lead that gets grounded on the ignition cylinder when the key is inserted. To be 100% honest, though, i would never actually recommend to anyone they disconnect that wire (if it's even present on newer cars) as you won't have any notification that a door is open until someone falls out!

coderj-that may be true but the light on the dash that says a door is open should be a pretty good notification that one of your doors is open....

that is a nasty intrusive noise here is a cheap quick fix
just don't forget to turn it back on so you don't lock yourself out

Yeah, and just remember, the door buzzer is set up that way so any time the keys are in the ignition, and not in your hand, and the chime is going off, the door lock button is disabled to prevent locking your keys in the car.

People barely glance at signs at intersections that say "No turning on red light" so chances of them looking at the dash to see if a door is open is kinda slim. The noise will annoy you enough to have the person close the door.

I didn't even think of disabling the door switch. That's a great idea, but I really want to disable the beeper itself since it's SO annoying. I've identified the location of the beeper and I'm pretty sure it's under the cover just behind the steering wheel. I just need to figure out how to get the steering wheel off now...
