I have a 2012 Scion xD. I live in The Villages, Florida which has it's own AM radio station at 640 on the dial. Unfortunately, the Pioneer radio (Toyota Part # PT546-0012) distorts the audio to the extent that I cannot listen to it. I had the original radio replaced under warranty due to this distortion and the new radio has the exact same problem.

I have found that all the radio stations that I can receive in the lower AM band, about 700 and below get distorted, but I have not noticed it above this frequency span. If anyone out there has the standard Pioneer radio that comes in the 2012 xD would you do me a favor and tune in a lower frequency AM band radio station in your area and see if it distorts the music. I can't believe I have had the only 2 that have this problem.

I know when i listen to 710 on mine I get a strange choppy distortion occasionally. Kind of a 3-4 second stutter.

The distortion is hard to explain. It sounds like a vibration in the music or voice. I have found it on 5 different AM stations from 720 down. I haven't found it much higher in frequency.

Yeah, that is how I might describe it on mine too.

By the way, the distortion is not heard 100% of the time. It seems to depend on the voice or music that is being broadcast.
