How do you route wiring up through the steering wheel?

Anyone done this? My plan is to run wires from the dash up the steering wheel to the blank plastic cover on the wheel to essentially create my own steering wheel controls for the right side of the wheel. It will facilitate the mounting of the blu logic control in the plastic cover.

I saw the threads about disassembling the steering wheel and replacing the steering wheel with aftermarket, but have not seen anywhere where someone ran wiring up the column. Any ideas or tips?

not sure I would do that. all the controls currently there work thru a clockspring. running your own wires could lead to shorts in the wires getting all tied up and pinched. easier said than done I say

Not sure what a clockspring is or what it all means. I just thought the wires ran up the center of the steering wheel....

No offense CL65... But if you don't know what a clockspring is you probably shouldn't even try it...

I'd seriously hate to see you accidentaly pop your airbag... That won't end well...

don't recommend it. i've had the steering wheel apart several times, and the trim piece to the right of the steering wheel is almost solid with internal ribs. i had thought about doing the same thing, but there's not enough room in there for something like that. and always disconnect your battery before taking your steering wheel/ airbag apart.
