Mount blu logic controls in plastic steering wheel cover?

I am probably going to get the blu logic system from the internets and instead of mounting the button to answer calls, etc, in the 'knock out' plate under the E-brake (totally out of the way and major inconvenience), I would like to put it on the steering wheel, right side in the unused plastic piece. My question is with the airbag in mind, and the wheel turning, how would you run the wires? Is there enough space behind the plate for the switch? Anyone who has mounted anything in this place with advice would be helpful. Thanks.

If you do any work on your steering wheel make sure to disable the airbag and disconnect your battery. Don't want to take any risks while messing around. I haven't opened up my xD yet but sometimes clearance can be an issue, and you run the risk of having your wiring bind up and disconnected, shorting, or even pulling out other wires, also quite possibly blowing your air bag. You need to take EXTREME precaution while doing this sort of work. I'd suggest just taking it to a shop where they specialise in sound/alarm systems and letting them do it
