Removing stock radio?

I'm sure its pretty sinple, but I haven't tried... How do you remove your stock radio?

I just bought the upgraded radio on eBay so I would like to have an idea how to get the regular one out.

Thanks!!

Grab the plastic (aka the waterfall) around the edges, and gently yet firmly pull. I find it's easiest to pull from the bottom and then go for the top.

After that grab a screwdriver and remove the screws that are holding the current one in place. I highly recommend you use either a magnetized screwdriver or have one of those handy dandy magnetized wands around to make sure a screw doesn't drop down in to the dash. Happened to me once, drove me CRAZY until I was able to locate it (took a week).

So you pull the entire middle piece off (for lack of better words)? The middle part that is orange on the RS1, and covers the radio, heater controls, etc? Just making sure I am thinking of the right piece.

If I am on the same page, any suggestions on which part to pull or does it come off pretty easy. I could see myself snapping the plastic.

unless you're Hercules trying to rape daddy Zeus in the butt.. you won't snap the center console piece.

just yank it off... it comes off easily

I'm not hercules or a rapist, so I should be fine. :)

Do you have to take the heater knobs off first?

the enviro. panel is seperate from the audio panel. feel around the edge of the waterfall for the seam, near the head unit. visually, the seam is between the shiny piece you're pulling off and the dull back half of the water fall that stays on.

Cool, thanks. I always thought that was one piece... I will have to check that out today when I get a chance. I have an RS1, so the whole piece is orange on mine.

Thanks again for all the help everyone!

I tried it, easier than I thought it would be. The only thing you have to watch out for is the wiring to the clock... other than that popped right off. Thanks for the help!
