Anyone done any Sound Deadening?
I have a '14 xD with 28k mi. I'm getting kinda tired of it, though it's paid for and there's nothing at all wrong with the car. Just getting bored I guess. I've been test driving crossovers thinking that might add the spice I'm craving but looking at what's out there and what the stealership would give me on trade, I'm not impressed. So I decided the best thing to do might be to hang onto the Scion and maybe put some money into it and try to make it more fun to drive. I'm putting new tires on it this week hoping it might make it handle and ride better than the 30k stock tires that it came with. I was also thinking I might do some sound deadening to make the ride quieter. Has anyone done this to a Scion? Any positive results? I'm also interested in hearing ideas on mods I can do to rekindle the car-man bond that we all enjoyed when we first drove our machines. Thanks in advance for all thoughtful replies.

I put my summer tires onto a set of aluminum Subaru wheels, that only needed 5mm spacers to bring them into spec. Handles a bit better with the slightly wider wheels.
I've also replaced the stock muffler with a stainless steel sport model (which really sounds good), and the front brakes with ceramic pads and slotted and drilled rotors. I doubt that sound deadening will do much, the xD is a naturally noisy car. ___ |

I did the SS muffler a couple of years ago hoping for a little more power. Well, it didn't work but I like the sound. Thanks for your reply DAlex.
