Default Scion xD Limited Edition Release Series 1.0

Scion seems to release more limited-edition models than we have fingers and toes to count, and it's continuing that tradition this June with the xD Release Series 1.0.

Scion's attempt to differentiate the xD RS 1.0 from its staid siblings includes a Hot Lava paint job, a DAMD four-piece body kit and a rear spoiler. The magma-themed exterior works its way inside with color-matching trim and seat inserts, while a RAZO shift ****, TRD lowering springs and model-specific wheel covers (wheel covers, really?) round out the poser package.
Scion is limiting production of the xD RS 1.0 to 2,000 units with an MSRP set at $1,999 over the standard xD's $14,550 base price (not including the $640 destination charge)

Scion Announces Pricing For Limited Edition xD Release Series 1.0

May 16, 2008 - Torrance, CA - Scion announced today that the third limited-production Scion for 2008, the xD Release Series 1.0 (xD RS 1.0), will be available at dealer showrooms beginning in June.

The 2008 xD RS 1.0 features Hot Lava exterior paint. This first limited edition xD will turn heads with a DAMD body kit, rear spoiler, Release Series wheel covers and TRD lowering springs. Inside, the xD RS 1.0 will feature Hot Lava accented seats and interior trim, and a RAZO Release Series shift ****. Like all Release Series vehicles, an individually numbered badge completes the uniqueness of this vehicle.

Only 2,000 units of the xD RS 1.0 will be built. The xD RS 1.0 model will carry a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $1,999 over the base price of the xD. The manual transmission xD carries a base MSRP of $14,550, while the MSRP for the automatic transmission model is $15,350.

The delivery, processing and handling (DPH) fee for all Scion models is $620 and is not included in the MSRP. DPH fees for vehicles distributed by Southeast Toyota (SET) and Gulf States Toyota (GST) may vary.

Given the cost of the accessories added, does the price "add up" here? (Especially since the wheels are steel.)

Yes, and then some. Please see the thread I started last week about this RS. Apparently we needed another one ???

Anyway, here's the link. I broke down the prices based on my experience modding cars piecemeal rather than buying one from the factory. Bottom line is Scion spreadloads their costs by changing the whole production line to make 2000 of these babies, whereas you and I would pay 2-3x their costs because we're doing only one job.

like the lip kit. RS's should definitely have more then just hubcaps even if it does mean a rise in the MSRP price

Theres still Toyota Alloys and TRDs to add to the price. I'm sure dealers would be more then happy to do so lol

If Scion put wheels on it, all you would do is complain about the increase in price and talk about how they don't look that good. With them putting steelies on it, it opens it up to a lot more people. Not everybody wants wheels and the ones that do, usually like to pick out their own wheels. If you buy this car, you can get the factory alloys or buy your own wheels since most people change them anyways. Think about it before you complain about something a company is doing....

Going to the dealership today and talk to them about trading in my xA for one of these. I like the idea of hubcaps, that way I can put the rims I want on it and not here the wife say, "its already got nice rims, why do you need new ones", lol.
