strange brake sound - like a small animal - new brake pads?
I've got about 26K miles with original brakes on my xD. Mostly city driving.
The past few thousand miles, About 75% of the time when I brake, I get this weird sound at the very end (heaviest part of the braking, right before stop) - it sounds like a little furry animal talking to its mate, is the best way I can describe it, and almost like something is sticking and letting go repeatedly. It's not a high-pitched squealing sound (I get that sometimes when braking, but my dad says it's probably brake dust).
I took my car to a mechanic 2K miles ago because I was worried about the pads and rotors. He said pads are fine and I have another 6-7K miles before I should change them.
Any one experience anything like this? I'm thinking of going back to a (different?) mechanic this week. Thanks!

Take your caliper apart and put anti-seize on the on the back of the pads and in between the metal shims. Then put it on the top of the shims as well. Be sure not to get any on the rotor or braking surface of the pads.
Also pull the slide pins out and put some on those too.
Toyota brake pads are notorious for brake noise. As long as your pads are thick enough (3mm or above) and your rotors aren't warped (vibration when braking) I wouldn't replace them. Try the grease and lmk if that fixes it.
