You know, I'm glad I didn't catch the kids that threw rocks off that overpass. I probably might have seriously hurt them. So I guess I can't have anything nice, and gonna have to put my money I have saved towards repairs now.

Dude, you said it. I'm sorry brother, I feel the same way when ish like that happens. Guess neither of us can have anything nice because the jealous, or the young, in this case, have to screw it up. Have safelite do the windshield, best prices anywhere, unless you know somebody in the glass business. Maaco does nice body/paint work for the price too. But i'm sure you won't claim this because your deductible is probably higher than the damage, and plus your insurance will probably go up. Again, I can personally relate and I feel for ya, you're not alone on this one. My car is the one thing I have and care about and I know it never goes well when something happens. Too bad those kids weren't closer so you could just stop and get them, but it was an overpass, you'd never catch em. Lame.

I used to throw snowballs when I was a kid.. didn't do any damage.. just scared the ____ out of ya..
Although one time... I was throwing a snowball at a city bus (NYC).. I threw it at the side of the bus and heard a scream.. The bus came to a halt and then the driver jumped out and started chasing me.. The window was open and I hit some lady in the face !!! I took off and ran for blocks !!!
I thought she was dying by the way she screamed.. kids do stupid things..

I got a $500 deductible, and am probably going to put a claim on it. The windshield is beyond repair I believe. I didn't get the whole web in the picture. It runs all the way across past the rearview mirror, and the rock dented the A pillar plus chipped the paint. So to pull the dent, paint, replace the windshield, and the plastic garnish around it might be just above the deductible. Hey, that's what insurance is for.

Insurance covers that.

it's usually like 100$ for a new front window.

It will probably be a lower deductible since the damage will fall under your comprehensive insurance being that it is an act of vandalism in a way. Would be the same is your car got keyed. Your insurance doesn't go up in these types of situations.

That is terrible. I hope those kids get what they deserve. That is reckless endangerment, vandalism, and possibly criminal negligence. I too would want to kick someones rear end if that happened to me.

Bummer. I didn't realize they had overpasses in TN. If only you had installed that header, you could have been going so fast they wouldn't have been able to hit you.

since it was caused by kids throwing rocks, it would be a simple comprehensive loss. can't count against your rates. still have a deductible though. check with your agent though, in my area, comprehensive rates are low, so having a $0 deductible is only a few dollars more than having a $1000 deductible.

I thought it was sad. He's goes around pandering for attention. I would wonder what grade he was in, but his profile says he's 41. I'm on this site because I enjoy my car, but for him it's just for disruption. Which is why most ignore him.

this happened to my wifes tC little more than a year ago. does not fall under comprehensive on Allstate. So $500 deductible to replace a broken front bumper, missing lower grill, loose upper grill, and damaged AC condenser. Knocked that part right off the radiator support and one of the rubber bushings was wedged under the radiator. There is still debris on the shoulder of that specific part of the highway even today. Lawyer said to not waste the time in filing a suit of the kids get caught as they will most likely get a slap on the wrist and we spent money for nothing since their family prolly doesn;t have any money to begin with. This happened on the "bad" side of town.

Yeah, that sucks JDMJIM. I going to take my car to the body shop tomorrow, and see what I'm going to have to do. Upside is I'm going to try and take care of some odd and end chips and dents on my own coin. I have State Farm, and they filed it under comprehensive to cover the main damage. So if they ever catch the kids, then the insurance will peruse them to recovery their money. It still makes me mad, but I'm covered.

this thread just reminded me of this news bit

http://www.10news.com/news/29025774/detail.html

7:12 pm PDT August 30, 2011

SAN DIEGO -- A 16-year-old boy who police said was throwing rocks at several vehicles was recovering Tuesday after being shot with a crossbow fired by someone inside a small sport utility vehicle, San Diego police reported. The victim and another boy were throwing rocks at vehicles about 2:15 p.m. Monday in the vicinity of Linda Vista and Mesa College roads, police said."That's where we're sorting out the stories," said SDPD Det. Gary Hassen. "One story says they were throwing rocks on Linda Vista Road. Another story says they were throwing rocks at another location."

Hassen said the boys got on a bus, and when they got off the bus, two young men in a black Toyota RAV 4 drove up. Someone in the SUV fired a crossbow, and an arrow hit one of the boys in the abdomen. He was treated at the hospital and is now at home, 10News reported. Police don't know yet if the Toyota had been hit by rocks. The two teenagers in it, described as 16- to 17-year-old Latinos, got away and were last seen heading south on Linda Vista Road. Bob Fromme of Performance Archery in San Diego said crossbows can do considerable damage. "It's not a self-defense weapon," he said. "It's a recreational-type weapon. Sometimes people do things they're not supposed to. They get hit with baseball bats and maybe stabbed with steak knives. But that's not what this was designed for." Police don't know what type of crossbow was used, but Fromme told 10News they can fire an arrow at more than 350 feet per second and hit a 4- to 6-inch circle from 60 yards away. As for people getting shot with crossbows, Hassen said, "I've been doing this for well over 20 years, and this is the only the second time I've ever seen anybody shot with a crossbow. It's very unusual." Fromme agreed, and added, "Archery's not meant to be shooting people." The name of the boy who was shot is not being released.
