Default Towing??

Has anyone tried towing with their xD.
I am talking like a small camping trailer (tear drop, motor cycle trailer) or the like?

If so, what Tow kit did you get?

I have never towed with the xD, but I found this info. I hope it helps you some what.

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...railer+hitches.

I hope this link works, never cut and pasted a link either.

But if it does not work, just type in "trailer hitches" in the search field. You will find a thread labeled "FYI on xD trailer hitches".

Thanks for the info. I will look into these options. I alreadsy have the roof rack for my kayak, but would like to free up space inside the car for when we go camping. It was a bit tight even with me down sizing the gear this year.

That's really cool McBrew.
I done sized over a year ago from an SUV to my xD and am still adjusting to the size of things I can carry.

What kind of towing attachment do you have?

I installed a Curt hitch. It used all factory mounting points and required no drilling. The wiring was pretty standard... You need a converter box, and I opted for a powered Hopkins one. "Powered" means it only takes a signal from the lighting circuits on the car, but actually powered the trailer lights directly from the xD's battery.

You are the man Mc Brew. Gotta give you credit with the towing thing.
The xD can certainly move more than just people I see.

Do you miss it since you got the Subaru?

Not really. Nothing in particular wrong with it, but the xD was a bit clunkier than I am used to. The main problem was that our family got bigger, and we needed more room. Going from a VW to a Scion was quite a drop in quality and feel (but better for cost of ownership). I just needed a cheap car for a few years. The Outback is pretty nice. The AWD comes in handy from time to time. I also like the additional tow rating (2,700 lb US/4,000 lb Euro).

Not putting down the xD... Quality was what I expected for $15k.
