w00t, first post!
I mentioned this on another thread but I wanted to know what the xA drivers thought.
I was thinking a roadster might be a nice replacement for the xA. Just an idea. Let me know what you guys think.

Seeing that VW doesn't currently offer a TDI, that is next to impossible that Scion will. VW stated that they MIGHT have a TDI as a 2009 model. Turbo diesels are generally reserved for german cars...and it will most likely stay that way.
In European countries, Herr Doktor Rudolf Diesel's 1892 invention purrs along under the hoods of one-third to two-thirds of all cars. But here in the U.S., only a dozen passenger-vehicle models with diesel engines are offered: a bunch of brawny American trucks/SUVs, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and four Volkswagens. California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, and Vermont effectively outlaw diesels, and some automakers say they won't introduce diesel cars until they're allowed in every state.
California emissions outlaw new passenger vehicles with diesel engines. This is due to the amount of particulate in the exhaust (soot). Commercial vehicles are under different regulations, which is why you see a ton of diesel pickups.
You can buy used diesel cars as long as they have over 7,500 miles and were previously titled. I purchased my 2001 Jetta TDI from a VW dealer in RI and had no issues registering it in MA.
I'll be all for diesels, and their claimed cleaner emmisions, as soon as all new diesel-engined vehicles have their exhausts exit roughly where a hood ornament would be, so the diesel folks can breathe the same clean air that we have to when following them...

Last time I was at a Canadian Toyota dealar, standing in a lot full of the 4-door hatchback Yaris,
they definately felt like VERY close relatives of the xA - or even a follow-on for the xA.
Seem to be nice machines.
