xD Fuel Capacity
Hi Everyone,
Hopefully this hasn't already been talked about, I searched and couldn't find it.
My wife just got a new xD, and it's not acting like it's got an 11.1 gallon tank. Maybe her trip calculator is off? We've refueled twice now at about 45 miles remaining. To me, that means there's less than 2 gallons left in the tank. Last time, we were at 40 miles remaining, and it only took 8.5 gallons. That implies there was still 2.6 left in the tank. Even at 30mpg 2.6 gallons would yield 78 miles. What am I missing here? Any thoughts?

Your mile per tank leaves out some range for reserve. When I run my range per tank gauge to 0 miles, then fill up, the max before auto cutoff is about 10.2 gallons. So it seems to me that it usually leaves about one gallon reserve. I have made a trip to and from work with 0 miles left from the start, and filled up to 10.6. I don't like to do that though.

they're conservative to make sure you don't run your tank dry and end up stranded on the side of the road. The tC has a 14.5 gallon tank, but the moment the low fuel warning light comes on, it takes about 11.5 gallons to fill it back up, meaning it still has about 3 gallons left. it is probably also helps protect the fuel pump from too much unnecessary strain trying to suck out what is left in the gas tank.
