xD on Yaris coilovers

Is there 1 on SL yet? I heard it had been done.

jspectoaster 08-18-2007 02:42 AM

can anyone verify if Yaris springs will fit on an xD.cause the yaris sedan df210's drop a lil over 2" and that would be sweet

toyoda 08-18-2007 02:56 PM

If not the yaris, maybe the Matrix ones would? Just an idea

L4rry_B1rd 08-18-2007 05:56 PM

Are the weigts similar between xD and Yaris?

toyoda 08-19-2007 07:42 PM

Approx curb weight of the Yaris is 2,321 and the xD is approx 3,086. Way too different. The Yaris springs would sit too low, have too much pre-load tension on up-travel, and would wear out and sag prematurley(sp). I would not do this. Maybe invest in a coil-over kit designed specificly for the xD. A much more sound idea IMO.

Boxer_Rebellion 08-20-2007 03:22 AM

Nope, the xD weighs just over 2600 lbs. You're thinking of the xB2.

MattyRattyPoo 08-20-2007 03:27 AM

Regardless you will have improper spring rates with using springs made for another car. I say wait for companies like Tanabe to come out with springs for the car.

CASTREX 06-09-2008 05:09 AM

Part numbers for the Tein Basic Coilovers, are the same for the xD and for the Yaris. Tanabe springs are also the same part number, both DF's & NF's

That means that the xD currently has a LOT of suspension/coilovers/springs options available.

Yang 06-09-2008 06:05 AM

+1 on same springs from tanabe

https://img150.imageshack.us/img150/...0315fi5.th.jpg

or you have go to tanabe's site here and look at yaris and xd same model http://www.tanabe-usa.com/springs/sp...tions.asp?id=2

pickledchang 06-09-2008 10:20 AM

+2 here... when my NF210s came in, it said "Yaris" right on the box.

SHIFT_xA 06-09-2008 10:51 AM

maybe the 4 door yaris?!?!?

tmrepp 06-09-2008 03:57 PM

Get a set of coilovers with a spring upgrade (heavier)...ksport will do it, and I bet progress, tein, etc. all would too if they have a kit for the Yaris.

JDMJim 06-09-2008 07:40 PM

whatever we say, people will use them anyway even if they are wrong... I mean, look how many peeps don't upgrade their shocks and should...

please justify that.

the part number for the NF210s is the same for the yaris sedan and hatch, as well as the xD, TNF121. ride height is different for each because of weight, naturally.

same thing with the tein basic dampers, part number for the yaris is the same for the xD, DSC10-LUAS2. even the part number for the springs that come with the kit are the same, front and rear, S8L70-11040 and S6L71-01031, respectively.

so am gonna go out on a limb here and say that xD springs ARE yaris springs...

see for yourself:

whoa were in the world did you get those numbers..?

ChelsDS 06-10-2008 05:10 AM

Hrm the chassis of the Yaris and xD are the same, so theoretically parts should work on either vehcile. The rear sway for the xD said Yaris on the box when I got mine. The Tanabe springs are the same for the Yaris as well. Though I could be careful getting other parts and swaping them on the xD.

I mean that stock shocks are not valved for a higher spring rate that would of course ruin the shock prematurely. replacing shocks when upgrading springs SHOULD be a no brainer. My wifes tC is still on stock shocks with white TRD springs. I can tell the shocks can't keep up with the springs. the car understeers horribly when pushed. The xD needs a rear sway bar badly. It doesn;t know if it should turn or not when pushed. But I guess only people that have done this correctly in the past would know. last car was all suspension and little engine work. Still made for a quick car in the twisties which was fun messin with more powerful cars.

pickledchang 06-10-2008 09:14 PM

phew, we should all be thankful then that someone has done it absolutely right and saved us all from a life full of premature shock failure.

anyone know if the TRD shocks are gas-charged?

tmrepp 06-10-2008 09:33 PM

I hear they're Toyota-charged$$$

pickledchang 06-10-2008 10:04 PM

lol, don't doubt that.
