my quest for "hella flush" fitment
With the lack of any kind of particularly aggressive fitments among the xd owners here, i've decided to try my own luck at achieving a nice, aggresive fitment.
This thread is more or less for my amusement and to keep up with the status as it progresses, milestones, measurements things of that nature. I'll start the thread with a little bit of basic information: My car: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4092/...2ccfa7fd_b.jpg 2009 Scion xD, Silver Current Suspension: K-Sport Coilovers Current Rims: O.Z. Racing Ultralagerras Current Rim Size: 16x7 +35 Offset Current Tires: 205/55/16 Now for a teaser: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4133/...af8f753d_b.jpg New Rims: ?????????? New Rim Size: 17x9.5 +56 (After adapters: ???????) New Tires: ?????????? Camber needed: Front: ???????? Rear: ??????? Fenders rolled / pulled: ????????? Part 1: Determining my desired offset The particular wheels in question were picked due to the high width and high offset. The high offset is used as a buffer zone since I was unable to get any information on fitting 9.5" wide wheels at a fairly aggressive offset on the xD. Tomorrow i start taking wheels off, taking measurements, snapping pictures, and once ive gotten my comfortable measurements, and a couple extra bucks on the side, I order my spacers/adapters. |
 Grass roots baby, I can dig it! Good luck, I'm looking forward to reading about your experience.

Nice, glad someone out there is giving this a shot. Looking forward to some updates!

curious to see the outcome.

Me too...I know how much work it took just to get 18x8 +35 to fit dropped on DF210's...If I keep the xD, I would love to go 18x9.5 some time down the road for that "aggressive fitment"...
Good luck and can't wait to see the pics... |
i appreciate an xd with aggressive fitment, not many around, or even xa's for that matter. im excited to see the outcome too

i went with 18x8.5F/18x9R with coilovers and had no issues of rubbing with no modifications required to run. after looking i could've gone 9.5 on the rear like how i was supposed to till i chickened out. but the front is something i'd like to see get done.
I had to grind my rear inner fender almost all the way down (didn't wanna roll them) and I still rub on large dips in the road...Plus I'm running 225/40/18 tires...If I ran 215 or 205/40/18's for a little stretch it would of helped a bunch... |
i just have tein basics. =( not too much adjusting there and no spacers, shims or cambers, etc... but seeing your spec.'s yeah the 205's was key for my set up.
Front-8.5” x 18” +35-205/40/18 Rear-9” x 18” +40-205/40/18 |
Sorry i havnt been active for a couple days, works been insane, with so many big projects and giving the sig other whatevers left.
Yesterday I managed to get out in the pretty fall louisiana weather and do some testing on the front. To my surprise there is tons of room with coilovers installed, and clearance to the offset i want looks to be manageable. not an insane amount of poke, just enough for what i want. Used a 1/2" piece of plywood to create a temporary spacer since i dont have the parts to mount anything properly yet. pic's of the front ftw, dirty car ftl: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4154/...16b867d9_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4153/...0c7da753_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4124/...cfcc0ba0_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4132/...ab7f661d_b.jpg Also since i was able to put them on an dget an idea and feel more comfortable about the rim selection now. These are the rims im going to be fitting: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4103/...a8d63c06_b.jpg Set of rear sawblade wheels from an old vette c4. Camber, and tire size are still going to be dependant on how friendly the fenders are rolling wize. but judging by what i see, 225's are no longer in the question and size range will be 205-215/45. Will have more next time im able to get into the driveway with spare time. |
sawblades FTW, you gonna polish them? and what adapters are you going to use
|
Yessir, current plan is to polish the faces to a mirror.
Also , gonna be using adaptec adapters, once i finish taking measurements and decide on a final offset, since their stuff is all built to order, and you can get it with whatever kind of hardware you want
