Question about tires

Ive got a 09 release series 2.0 wanting to get / need new tires - anyone know if 215/65/16 or 215/70R16 will fit on stock wheels and not have any rubbing issues?

Thanks
Derek

im guessing they wont,

but maybe if i replaced the rim with another offset ?

I have no clue , i tried to ask someone at tirerack and they was no help, pretty much could just recommend the stock dunlops

Try 205/55/16

yea if you want a wider tread like a 215, you want to bring down the profile, probably to a 55, for a 225 down to a 50 series. 205/55/16 is a great replacement for the stock tire without breaking the bank.

heres a handy calculator to give you an idea of what this kind of stuff does to your speedo and is also pretty helpful as far as fitment estimates go

that size yeilds alot of replacesments (205/55/16)

but not the tire i was looking for

i was wanting to add a all terrian type(general AT2 for example) tire to my stock rims, ...prob not possible...but would like the look/added traction to get me camping / fishing ..etc

btw i dont ness want to change tires sizes, but no vendor makes a tire in stock size at

i used to go trailing on the 195/65/16s,i'm running 225/50/15s right now, and about to be running 225/50/16s, but im too low to go trailing nowadays. you can probably bring the series up a few depending if you have a drop/plan to drop your car. trd springs or stock springs would be the only real setups you could consider putting a bigger series tire on

Well I don't go trailin per say or expect to go offroad in my scion by anymeans, I just want a tad more traction on muddy roads and a more aggressive look .... I use my scion to take me to the trail head and some camping trips weekly ...only been stuck once and it would have been prevented with diff tires I'm almost certain, just a peice of mind

I plan on keeping stock everything..... (springs)

I guess ill go to my local shop and have them look at my car to see what I need to do for the at's

The tires I want are bf goodrich ta ko in 215 70 16,

xDTool 06-21-2010 08:15 PM

those will bring down your fuel economy big time, and probably wont look very good on the car, if they will even fit, they might not. Unless you go through the dirt all the time, i wouldnt recommend them. Id stick to car tires and not venture to truck tires. 215 - 225/50-55/16 all seasons (might provide a better tread for dirt, though neither summer nor all season car tires are really meant for dirt) is what id suggest

I go thru dirt a lot I live in the country lol but work in city thru week.... might have the wrong car lol but I don't want a truck! Lol

Those bfgs are taller but not to much wider I think they may look alirght but it'd be super tight fit

derekls 06-22-2010 01:44 PM

yeah they def wont fit.

the stock size is pretty much it i guess,

derekls 06-26-2010 11:30 PM

i can get a whole set of those bfg ta ko's for liek 360 shipped for a set of 4

great price

if they did fit , would it tear my tranny up or would it hurt my car in any way drivetrain wise ?
