Default xB caught fire this afternoon..

I was driving when I noticed smoke coming from the vents and from around the radio. I pulled into a parking lot about the time flames started coming from the dash. About 10-15 mins later this was all that was left.

The car was all stock except for rims and springs. No idea how this happened but fire and police officials are saying probably electrical fire. Could have been faulty wiring...

Car fires, especially electrical, have become so rare.

BUT, on last nights news I watched one burn on TV. Now this one.

I remember 2 winters ago, I watched this idiot with bald tires try to make it up a hill by just flooring it and letting his engine scream at full throttle and not going anywhere. By the time he made it to the top, the car overheated and burnt to the ground at the top of the hill. This was caused by a fuel leak.

Fill us in more on yours. What mods, (electrical) did it have that MIGHT have caused this??

So sorry to see this happen to such a nice xB.

Ive had the screen name since i bought the car. As for mods, I had none except for the rims and springs. I was never the type to do stereo mods. Entire interior was stock.

Im stumped as to what started the fire. Like i said, It started coming from the vents and from around the radio. I havent been able to find anything about recalls or this happening to anyone else.

Wow...strange, and the mileage is so low too. I would definitely bring it to the attention of Scion Corporate.

Oh, and btw, that'll buff right out.

That really sucks, sorry for the loss. Could it be possible it was something from the engine? Maybe oil caught on fire due to a freak gasket failure?

So i have been worried today about how insurance is going to cover this and all and remembered that my car is still under warranty. What do you guys think scion will say about this since it seems like it was an electrical fire?

The car still has 10k and 6 months left on the warranty.
