i tinted my front windows 15% and its pretty exact to the factory rear windows and then i did the whole windshield 35% - - thats as dark as i think u would want to go really bcuz with all the windows tinted it does make for a little bit of a tough time to see when turning left for me at night atleast. i think its illegal in most states to tint ur windshield but i talked to a cop before i did it and he said they cant put there little device on the window bcuz the windshield is at an angle - my advice is to tint it. it looks so much better - the guy charged me 100 bucks for the windshield but its worth it in my opinion.
thats beautiful!!! but F that! seeing at night has to be a pita!!!
i backed into a car once cuz i couldnt see out of my rear window..but ill admit its nice looking lol but very illegal in most states.

I had a lowriding s-10 one time, had limo on the back and sides, and a limo visor. Had my friends shop do a 35% run from the limo visor down the rest of the windshield. It was hard as "F" to drive at night, and really dangerous. Won't do it again. It's got a cool factor, but thats about it.
grandpajoe, you live in southern California... if you tint your front windshield, I will guarantee you will be pulled over, ticketed and required to remove it. This will also include a fine. You can tint the top 4-5" of the front windshield, but no lower. Here is the actual cvc restriction:
(c) Notwithstanding subdivision (a), transparent material may be installed, affixed, or applied to the topmost portion of the windshield if the following conditions apply:
(1) The bottom edge of the material is at least 29 inches above the undepressed driver's seat when measured from a point 5 inches in front of the bottom of the backrest with the driver's seat in its rearmost and lowermost position with the vehicle on a level surface.

I have what they call light tint all the way around, I think it's about 50%. It's covering the entire windshield, front sides, back sides and back windows. I also have a strip of dark as a visor at the top of the windshield. The layering effect makes everything just right, as the back windows are factory tinted so they're fairly dark, then the front sides have a slight factory tint in them and the windshield has no factory tint. It helps keep the car much cooler and looks good. The tint is Formula One Pinnacle.
anyone in socal got pulled over for tinting the front 2 windows?
I didn't do mine yet but thinking how dark i should do it. (sorry to go off-topic but a tinting thread so just joined in

I have the whole front winsheild 35% all the rest 5%.... I've always had it on every car...so I'm used to watching for cops .. If I get pulled over for speeding or whatever ... I always roll all windows down .. Helps cops relax .. Lol .. And they never notice front tint .... But if it's cold or rainy cloudy .. My front sticks out bad... Been tickited 2 times for tint in south florida ...in 3 years... It's worth it ... But the blacked out tails are much more of a problem... My led tails will be here monday... Then I will ride easy...alot of stuff we do can be tickited.. Lowering.. Stereos with megawatts .. Turbo burnouts... Exhaust..etc .. Imo the reward out weighs the risk.. But to each his own...ive never liked people being able to see in ...plus you will be amazed what girls will do when they know people can't see in ...
I got 5% on all the windows and then 55 on the shield in the xB. It's OK I wish I had it darker though. when I get a new shield this week.
I will have my tint guy go with 35 on the shield. I have 3% on the windows on my Mazda and 35 on the shield and I love it.

If you're going to tint your front windshield, here's what I would recommend:
Tint the whole thing at 50%. It'll darken it up and help block the sun from coming in. Then tint the top 5 inches or so with a dark tint to help hide the fact that your windshield is tinted.
You seem hellbent on doing it anyway, so you might as well be somewhat safe: [1]You'll get a darker look and [2]It's not dark enough to attract cops. Where I live, windshield tint isn't legal, and the front is 30% and rear 20% max.

Here is my 08 xB
Tinted windshield since 07 when i got her!!!
20% shield*
5% all around
Black Leather to add to the darkness
Have had the Windshield done on most of my rides. My Mother was the first one and started a trend with her 02 Ford Explorer.
She needs it cause she has Lupus and the sun is no good for her skin of health.

There have been many tickets given in my xB..... everyone for tint we've taken to a lawyer and they get thrown out.... Idk about rules in other states.... The last ticket I got the cop actually wrote on my registration what he ticketed me for.... so I ordered a new $5 reg from the dmv. haha
