2nd Annual Box the Dragon!

This is the official sign-up / informational post to the Second Annual Box the Dragon going to be held August 5-7, 2011 (Friday through Sunday). I hope this date is as convenient for others as it is for us. It will once again be held at the Fontana Village Resort, Fontana, North Carolina. The main attraction besides meeting and conversing with xB owners is, for people who do not know, driving U.S. 129 aka The Tail of the Dragon, a winding 11 mile, 318 curve scenic mountain road. The road is truly a blast for anyone who has yet to experience it.

Anyone owning an xB (regardless of generation) is invited this year!

Important: There is a discount on rooms at the Fontana Resort Lodge this year. Just call the lodge, say you are with Box the Dragon, and you will be set aside a room at a discounted rate. I personally think it is best to stay at the lodge and not a nearby hotel so you’ll be close to everyone and everything going on, and so you don’t have to take the long drive up the Dragon just to get to the resort.

This year we thought it would be beneficial to have a pre-registration list so everyone can see who is all coming for sure. The shirts are going to cost $10 again this year. Also anyone attending will receive a lanyard with a photo of you alongside your xB and any other miscellaneous goodies we decide to give away just for showing up.
To register, simply copy and paste the registration list below into your post saying you are attending. Alongside your name or username, we ask that you list your shirt size and any additional shirts you wish to order. This way we can get a number of how many shirts we need and what sizes.

We ask that you be sincere in registering so that we do not buy shirts and have no one show up to buy them.

Agenda for the Weekend: For anyone arriving early enough on Friday, maybe we can get a quick drive in up and down the Dragon. On Friday night the Rye Holler Boys are playing at the Wildwood Grill at 5 o’clock pm for anyone interested in some entertainment (they also play Saturday night at six). Saturday will be our big day for driving, so I was thinking eating a lunch around noon at the Grill and meeting there for a bit to converse then take a healthy afternoon drive as a group. Last year we did a night drive as well and that was a blast, so Saturday night seems like a good idea to me.

I was thinking yellow with black design? I don't know if we're going to have two color options like last year. Would you want a different color other than yellow? I really don't care

If anyone wishes to receive his/her shirts ahead of time, I can PM you my address and you can send me your payment and we'll ship you your shirts.
Of course, you can just buy them without the shipping cost when you arrive so it doesn't matter.

 

I would like to know if this is a kid friendly event?

 

Yeah of course! There won't be any drinking/smoking/partying/adult related activities whatsoever, I assure you. It's not a drunk-fest. Driving and cars are the main focus, but you're in no way limited to only that. The resort is beautiful with a gorgeous pool and putt-putt, arcade, etc.

And Marie from the Fontana Village Resort called me today and extended the reservation date for the block of rooms at the discounted rate at the lodge. Just say you're with Box the Dragon when you reserve your room. I assume that is where everyone is staying?

Where is everyone planning on staying?

 

we will be at the Lodge.... what is the deadline for registration?

 

May 15th we were told. There are others staying at the Tuskeegee Motel near the Lodge but I prefer the Lodge myself

 

Here is this year's shirt design. What do you guys think? (we can't change it, but I would just like to know how we did)

I like the shirt only wish it had both a 1st Gen and 2nd Gen on it...beings i drive a 2nd Gen but its cool

 

I know I'm sorry. We thought about that but we just used the design from last year. For us first gens it's pretty cool!
