Default Rear hub replacement

Hi all,

2015 Scion tC. Replacing rear wheel assembly/hub due to an accident. The instructions indicate that the parking brake cable needs to be detached from the rear caliper.

1. Is this actually required or can I leave it attached ?
2. If it requires removal, how difficult is that and best procedure?

thank you for any help!

Well decided to do this over the weekend and operation completed no problem. Parking brake can be disconnected from the caliper by using flat screwdriver and prying the ball end out of the assembly. You may need to loosen the parking brake cable at the lever temporarily (I did not need to). I was not able to remove the caliper without disconnecting the cable first.
