Default Help with finding OEM air intake parts

Hey all!,

I've been a member since 08 on this forum but i haven't posted in a looooong time!

So, I'm having a problem. I just moved to Arizona and my car isn't passing smog. I was told prior to my move that it's probably my CAI with a filter and some sensors or something that converts gas to the exhaust fumes.

The first thing I'd like to do is replace my CAI with the OEM air intake. I thought it was going to be easy to find the parts but so far it's been pretty hard. It seems that 3rd party manufacturers only started making the air intakes
for 2007-2010 tC's as shown in this link.
here here
but it says its for 2007-2010

I cannot find a new 3rd party OEM style air intake anywhere and have only found used ones on eBay. Unfortunately, these used parts are very expensive as you can see here,

I have a couple of questions and I really appreciate you guys taking the time to answer them.

1. The 2nd link I posted says that the part can go on 05-10 Scions. If that's the case is there any 3rd party manufacturers that I can buy the 05 air intake parts from?

2. The Amazon link i posted says 2007 and up, has anyone tried putting one of these on a 2005 tC? is it possible with some modifications?

3. Anyone know a good site where I can find 2005 Scion tC parts? or 3rd party air intake parts?

10 years later i feel like a noob all over again.

I appreciate your responses

-Adam

You can find Original 2005 OEM tC Parts here:

OEM 2005 Scion tC parts

Those are for New Parts with a Discount.

If you are not comfortable with the prices, use the Valid Part Numbers
to shop around for your prices. Used parts will go for less than New.

Hope this helps,

I didn't think they changed anything intake related with the 2007+ did they? I don't see why it wouldn't work, maybe try comparing pictures of both years to see if there's any difference?

They are 2 different Part Numbers:

2005 OEM Intake Assy= 17700-28250

2007 OEM Intake Assy= 17700-28331

I learn many, many years ago, NEVER assume that the Parts and Part Numbers
always remain the Same. They can be Changed, Revised and/or Superseded.
You ALWAYS want to go with the part for your Model Year whenever possible.

I have always Stress over 10 years on these Forums to State your Model Year whenever it involves parts.

There are No Mind Readers here.

The 2005-2006 tC used a different air flow meter than the 2007-2010. The shape and electrical connector is different, and so the upper airbox is different to suit the updated connector. You could potentially use the other type of sensor, but you would also need to verify they have the same operational parameters, as well as replace the electrical connector on the harness.

Probably easiest to just make sure you get the correct airbox. The other air intake components remained the same from 2005-2010.
