2004 xB Lower/Bottom Radiator support
My xB almost had the radiator fall out because the bottom support rotted out. The sides still look ok, but rusty. I think they can be saved if i paint them well.
A few questions:
1) has anyone repaired this type of thing?
2) can the repair be bolted, or is welding a must?
3) is the bottom support 1 or 2 pieces? Looking at mine, I can't tell because it is so far gone. I saw a diagram that mentioned a radiator support, but also another piece (that maybe the bumper and the plastic undersides mount to)?
Any ideas would be appreciated!

My idea would be to get your car to a decent body shop if it's rotting to the point the radiator's about to drop out of it. Even if you 'paint' all of the visible rust there is still likely going to be rust that you can't see and the paint is going to rapidly bubble and the rust is going to continue eating your car.
Unless you're experienced with body work I'd say you're at a point where you might need some professional help on this one or, depending upon how pervasive the rust is on the rest of the vehicle, might need to start looking for a new car.
You could also reference this thread, detailing the parts breakdown for the radiator support, which a quick search would have found for you:

Thanks for the video. It does help me to visualize the parts. Do you know if a new radiator support bracket is something that is bolted on, or would i need to have it welded on (which is beyond my abilities). Thanks!
