Problem with rims

Howdy. I have a 2005 xA with 366K on it. Over the past 15 months, I have had to replace 3 different rims. All 3 were bent, and the tire cut on the side. Our streets here in NOLA are bad, however I have been driving the same roads back and forth to the same place of employment for over 5 years. Two rims were stock/original. One was an OEM replacement. An acquaintance told me that my tires are too small. By that I mean, the tires are the correct size, 185/60R15, he was saying I need "taller" tires. I need to be able to drive without having to putter along like an old fart, because my rims are easily damaged.
Any recommendations.

First, you need to contact your local city and complain about the roads and how they are breaking your car and that it's a safety issue.
It's the whole point of paying taxes.
Then if they don't get out and fill the potholes, you can throw some of this into the worst ones (If it's safe to do so) https://www.homedepot.com/p/SAKRETE-...3430/202298772.
There is a thread / sticky on here about what size tires can work.
You may want to run higher tire pressures... run about 4 psi lower than the max sidewall pressure. It could stop the corners of the potholes reaching the rim.
