Default Fitment question

I know there is a sticky which addresses whether or not wheels will fit, but there is an inherent problem as to what suspension the cars are running with the wheel size/offset.

I need to know if a 17x7 at +35 running a 205-40-17 tire will fit on a tein s-tech drop? only reason i'm asking is b/c according to the fitment calculator it will fit more flush to what i'm looking for, yet when i tried to order, the distributor says that their computer recommends a +42 offset. thanks in advance.

Yes, it will fit. I'd recommend a 205/45/17 to keep your speedometer correct, though.

Also according to Tire Rack the 205/40/17 is under weight rated for the xB. Food for thought.

only reason i'm asking is there are 205-40-17 that are more than capable of matching the load rating of what the oem tire is capable of.

not sure of the weight or loads for the xB, but the OEM tire for the xA has a max load capacity of 1102 per tire for a total weight capability of 4408. the car itself weighs a bit close to 3700 lbs, wet, which would allow for 700lbs of passengers/load combined. i have seen more than one tire available in that size that is more than capable of handling that exact same load, but have also seen tires in-capable of doing much more than 3600 lbs.

I only found out about it when I went to order some Kuhmo 711s for my xB in 17 inch and was informed They (Tire Rack) CAN'T sell them to me for this vehicle. I ended up getting 215/45/17's and liked the additional sidewall for the pothole protection.

ahh, ok, well in the specs page of every tire, it does in fact list the load rating so you can see what you get before you buy. cost isn't really an option, so i'll make sure it is going to be something that has the appropriate load rating.

I hate to jack a thread but my computer proxy doesn't allow me to use the wheel calculators. I have an xB with tein s-techs and I'm going to put 18 x 7.5 with 42 et all the way around. I'm leaning towards 215/40 x 18 for the tire size. Any help would be much appreciated.
